UPDATE: Friday April 18
The "Sixteen year old girl." A hoax???
I am SPITTING mad. Texas authorities better have those children back in their mothers arms by tonight.
"A 33-year-old Colorado Springs woman has been questioned about a telephone call that sparked a raid at the polygamist Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints compound in western Texas two weeks ago.
Rozita Swinton was arrested at her home Wednesday night by Colorado Springs police for an incident that occurred in February. Members of the Texas Rangers were also in Colorado Springs as part of their investigation.
"The Texas Rangers were in Colorado Springs (Wednesday) as part of their investigation involving the compound in Texas. They left and have not filed any charges on Rozita Swinton as of this time," said Colorado Springs police spokesman Lt. Skip Arms.
Colorado Springs police said the arrest warrant has been sealed and refused to release any other details, reported Deseret News."

FRESH MEAT . ALLIE, ALLIE IN FREE.
I wish I knew how to copy and paste from a .pdf file. Too lazy to type.
Great stuff there.
Polygamous James Harmston preached that: God wants them to take from every government program possible. God doesnt expect you to wallow in turkey manure. In another lifetime, we were persecuted and thrown out of Jackson County by the government. Were entitled to everything we can get, he said.
With God ordering fraud, there is plenty of it. Many plural wives claim they dont know the whereabouts of their childrens father. As many as 50% of Hildale residents were on public assistance in 2001; 33% were on food stamps in 1998 compared to Utahs statewide average of 4.7%. In 1997 every school-age child in Colorado City was living below the poverty level.
The twin towns have received millions of dollars from the federal government for housing and street improvements.
Colorado City got $2.8 million for an airport, which prophet Jeffs has used for his chartered Lear jet.
In 2005, Colorado Citys tiny fire department received $350,000 in Homeland Security fundsthe states third largest Homeland Security grant.
Arizona has taken over the Colorado City school system because of gross mismanagement of public funds.
In March, 2006, the federal government did fine a FLDS contractor over $10,000 in child labor law violations for using FLDS boys.
FLDS women pray to have Fumarase deficiency and Downs syndrome children because the mothers gets public funds for each handicapped child.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg. The FLDS children are money makers.
Oh, there’s a way.
But if I have to wade through Adobe Acrobat loading, then so does everyone else.
In my case call it failure to proof read before posting or premature posting.
Rulon is dead now but it’s said he had at least 75 wives.
An easy assertion to make. A difficult one to prove.
This entire case is going to get tossed and the citizens of Texas are going to pay through the nose for it.
Really? On what grounds will it be tossed?
I'd love to hear that argument.
In pretty much every state of the union, authorities are required by law to investigate such calls for help.
Hence the phenomenon of prank EMS calls, etc.
Seems to me there are a bunch of saudi-like 'virtue&vice' folks that do just that. Jeffs is already held, yet the rest of the perpetrators are walking free. Meanwhile all of their victims, the women and children, have been rounded up and subjected to taliban-style moral outrage and taken out of their own homes on rumor and innuendo. Good example is the belief that they were involved in massive welfare fraud -- since they need birth certificates to qualify, but don't register their births that's hard to do.
Then we find the Sheriff had someone undercover gathering info -- for the past four years -- but instead of DPS working with him they get the state police to start the action based on unidentified phone calls from a 'girl' they couldn't find that we now know was a woman with an axe to grind from another state. When are they going to cordon off Brownsville, Dallas, Houston, ... , and cull the miscreants among the hispanic and black populations of those enclaves? There they will find welfare fraud.
As someone once said, those that chase and defeat demons should make damn sure they don't become one. So yes, in this case under these conditions, those women and children have had their constitutional rights violated -- IMMHO.
So Jeffs was already in custody, meanwhile the rest of the perpetrators are left free, but let's corral the women and children and take them out of the only place they felt secure? Guess we should be grateful ATF wasn't called.
So, are you implying that if a police officer responds to a 911 call, and in the course of investigating, he sees a man abusing a child, he should some how have a magic time machine in his head to know the original 911 call was false, and therefore, he should let the man continue with the abuse he is witnessing? The case won't be tossed because the original call may have been false. The children weren't removed based on the original call, they were removed based on what the Texas Rangers witnessed when they went to investigate the call.
A defective Search Warrant.
L
Sure they should investigate. However in this case I believe 8 homes were searched. At what point do authorities begin to think they've been had? After 3,4 or 5 homes with absolutely nothing to confirm the call had any valid claim?
If anything the FDLS case will draw attention to the potential abuse of these "anonymous" calls.
And what was the defect?
well there is a lot of abuse going on in America...I'd wage over half of 15 year old girls are sexually active
Some hysterics and deeper darker motivations going on here.
My problem has been all along that this is a subject I know little about in general and less in particular this case.
But many here are simply playing all this to mean whatever they want to suit their ends....which for a number...and they admit it more or less ....to fight Mormonism in general. Folks declaring any notion that fits as absolute truth....like that folks did not historically marry earlier 100 years ago than now for example....or acting like 16 year old girls never have sex......they damn sure did 34 years ago when I was that age....most anyhow.
There are a lot of questions here on both sides so far. I just instinctively wonder about yanking 400 plus kids from their families.
What you said....mimics my own feelings and family history.
While i don’t think 50 year olds should bed 14 year old girls. Folks here act like if the woman is under 18 or even 21 then it’s horrible.
For the record, I’m 50. My is 42.
Don’t worry....amongst affluent classes, kids stay home till late 20s and don’t even grow up till 35 or so ../slight sarcasm
my wife follows this subject here with me....we were taking our oldest son to baseball discussing how much younger our grandparents and great grandparents married 100 years ago
you juxtapose on this thread where folks are horrified with teen girls getting married and having sex and getting pregnant with older men in arranged marriages with how our culture now more or less tolerates endemic fornication and teen unwed pregnancy.
it’s paradoxal
I think women marry older today more because one needn’t marry to have sex anymore than any other reason ..even the extended education argument...folks really did marry in my folks day 1950s, in order to copulate
no doubt in my mind that professional class kids are less mature then even when I was young....they’re allowed to be ...an indulgence
According the news lately, Planned Parenthood is a BILLION DOLLAR A YEAR business......never underestimate what a Democrat will do for money.
Personally I find a great difference between teens having sex and teens and adults but having said that............just because a law is being broken somewhere else does not mean it should be ignored in this case.
