That Logan video is Microsoft Flight Simulator. Modern video games are pretty amazingly realistic these days, though, huh?

Kai Tak has been closed for some time now.I flew into it twice in my life and the first time I had no idea of its reputation....I (truly!) thought I was gonna die! Now I understand why they coined the phrase “Kai Tak Heart Attack”.Just part of the mystery that is Hong Kong,IMO.

I used to visit friends that lived right under the landing pattern for Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. Those planes landing overhead were so close to the homes. When one of the big AWACS came in for a landing, what conversation you had going on, whether in person or on the phone, just stopped completely, no shouting because it was useless with the noise. You just waited for a few long seconds, then continued on with your conversation as if nothing happened. No explanation or apology on why you stopped speaking was necessary, because everyone understood.
