Democratic leaders called the latest National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) on Iraq s assessment of President Bushs surge strategy incredible. General David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, and Ambassador Ryan Crocker, the top U.S. diplomat in Baghdad are said to be facing a tough grilling when they give testimony to key congressional committees this week.
To be blunt, I find the report incredibleas in hard to believe, Senator Carl Levin (D-Mich.) said. The claim that there has been significant progress in Iraq directly contradicts what the Democratic leadership in congress and our two presidential candidates have been saying. It is intolerable that such views should be permitted at this critical moment in our history.
Levin downplayed the contention that since Petraeus and Crocker were on-the-scene in Iraq they might have a better feel for whats going on than the Democratic congress. They may be in touch with conditions in Iraq, but were in touch with the American voters, Levin pointed out. Americans are tired of this war. They want it to end. So-called good news impedes congress efforts to call it quits.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) seconded Levins comments and urged Patraeus and Crocker to pay attention to the calendar. The Bush administration is nearing its end. If they have any concern for their careers they should consider whether what they say in their testimony will please their new masters.

Hah, I knew it, AZConservative!
LOL,
it would be funny if it wasn’t tragic.
Truth bites don't it, Carl. The truth directly contradicts what you and your fellow Rats are saying, doesn't it, Carl!!
"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq 's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." Letter to President Clinton. - (D) Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, others, Oct. 9, 1998 |
Geez, what a bunch of weeners.
Too bad their constituents either don’t remember, don’t care, or are just as evil as their senators.
There’s a special place in hell for the likes of Levin!!
