It was a scary ride aboard a U.S. Airways flight over the weekend.
Some passengers said they saw parts of their plane's wing come off in midair.
The plane took off from Orlando on Saturday. Officials at U.S. Airways said a small part of the wing came off and hit the plane while in flight.

Thanks, Im in the industry. This is the first cracked passenger window I have heard of. Plenty of crack cockpit windshields, but never a pax window..

It should be fixed by then. And I wouldn’t worry. All my duct tape repairs last more than two days.

They were probably whining about the coffee being cold too. You can get it to boil pretty fast at 30,000 ft atmosphere. It gets hard to “suck” it down though, assuming your conscious.

I've seen cracks in the "outer" pane before. More than once, actually. But you know, I really hate it when
"parts of their plane's wing come off in midair."
IT'S JUST SO IRRITATING!

Well, just make sure the “front” of it is folded down behind something...
How many layers of “speed tape” do you put on a cracked window to make sure it keeps the plane pressurized. I figure four layers, crisscrossed.
Just curious. ;)
Needless to say, the pasenger in the window seat should get a discount for the damaged view.

We had just taken delivery of a new aircraft, and one of VP’s was signing off our FAA Inspector in the type. The Fed was in the right seat and was flying the leg. This thing had just been weighed, so it hadnt flown revenue yet. Inside the marker, they smacked a goose on the leading edge. It pushed the damn thing in about 7 inches. They pulled it up to hangar, and there was half the goose still stuck in the wing and blood and avian remains all over the fuse near the root. We needed a new wing. The Fed has never lived it down..

Well, I have seen speed tape coming loose and flapping hard on the windshield enough to cause a diversion and a windhield change..
