OH! Johnny Vobeck, Johnny Vobeck, how could you be so mean? Once day you'll be sorry for inventing that machine. Now all the neighbors' cats and dogs will never more be seen; They've all been ground to sausages by Johnny Vobeck's machine!
Gotta drop off; it's late. Or early, depending upon your timezone. I wouldn't even be on, but I just got my home machine back up and running. It had been locking up under load, and I couldn't figure out why. I shut it down to clean the dog hair and dust out of the vents and heat sinks, and discovered that the fan on my video card had died. So, whenever I did anything graphically intensive, the GPU would get so hot it would seize up, and the screen would simply freeze. Well, to my chagrin I also discovered that they don't sell replacement fans for video cards, so I had to buy a small square fan of approximately the same size, cut the guts out of the plastic frame, and transplant them onto the metal vent plate that screws onto my graphics card, all the time keeping my fingers crossed that the blade assembly would be thin enough to fit.
After 90 minutes work with X-ACTO knives, needle-nosed pliers, and a few judiciously applied drops of 3-second crazy glue I had a custom-built cooling fan assembly successfully installed on my card. I'm happy it worked, I don't have the slack, right now, to drop $250 for a new video card.
Nytol.
How very high-tech.
I saw the first batch of ducklings earlier this week - mallards. Should be more before long, and Canada goose babies.
