What is the solution? It is not banning guns. Maybe it is something more difficult to solve.

Put God back in school. When is the last time you saw a shooting at a Christian or Catholic school?

That said start teach the 3 r’s and stop social engineering experiments.

Putting God back in school tends to raise Constitutional concerns. How about taking the government out of school?

The solution is to stop publicizing these incidents. The perps do it for the publicity.

I don’t think the media could refrain from reporting the incidents at all, but they could certainly refrain from publishing the name and photo of the perp. Nothing is accomplished by doing that anyway.

Better administration (or less use) of antidepressants?

Yep, government out of schools.

Then there would be no Constitutional concerns.

We could still _fund_ schools through tax money, letting the parents choose the school, and giving them a tax credit up to a certain amount. Anything above that would be out of pocket, but still WAY to the parents’ advantage.

There was no constitutional issue the first 200 years of our country until the SCOTUS cared what a small group of atheists wanted over what this country was founded on.

Well, there was the Amish school slaying about a year ago. That said, morals and responsibility and discipline are necessities in schools.

I don’t know that there is an easy (or any) solution. Some people just go bad. However, there is one theme that seems to follow all these mass shootings...... in most of these cases we always hear that the shooter “calmly reloaded” and began shooting again. It is at this point he needs to be rushed or shot by others.

I reject the premise that a solution is necessary. It's obvious that loons should not go around killing people. Trying to figure out how to stop loons from doing such a thing is a waste if time. Especially with something like this where the odds of it happening are so huge it's not worth passing some law or whatever over anyway. Stairs kill a lot more people than loons at school.

No law to pass anyway. We have the right to bear arms, an armed society is a polite one. If enough people are packing the next time the loon pulls out a firearm they are more likely to get their ass shot dead. Dead loon is a good thing.

Restraints on the First amendment

The Columbine perps got the idea from a movie

The next two got the idea from all the TV and other media coverage of Columbine

How do you reverse 40 years of a politically correct, self-loathing attitude? Easier said than done.
But, since I can’t home-school my kids, I have to send them to school. And since I can’t be responsible for their safety there, the school is.
I suggest more electronic surveillance, gates and fences, and armed security in every school.

Well, the real question is this: why are folks so set to blame the schools for these incidents?

I think some of the “zero tolerance” nonsense has something to do with it, too. Kids aren’t allowed to work out their differences; “back in the day” when two guys would work things out with their fists, they might get a swat each and that was that. Now, it would be a federal case.

The Amish school shooting wasn’t by the kids in the school though.
“A heavily armed truck driver prepared for a standoff barricaded himself in a one-room Amish schoolhouse, killing five girls execution-style before killing himself, police said.”

Six others were tied up and wounded.
Charles Roberts, carried a shotgun, a pistol and a rifle, a stun gun, two knives and 600 rounds.

The shooting was 60 miles west of Philadelphia, at an Amish school with 26 kids, 11 girls.

The other shootings seem to be hopless, Godless, miserable kids who want to take a lot of others with them.

Simple solution:
Arm a qualified, trained teacher with a concealed weapon. No one except the administation is to know who is carrying . If more than one can qualify, then arm multiples or rotate the weapon from week to week .
This is not far fetched . No different than having police patrol the halls and a LOT cheaper .
Even post a sign at the front door that deadly force will be employed at this site.

For starters, stop drugging the kids with anti-depressants.
