Exactly what was it about Hillarys recent speech in Selma that made supporters and detractors alike cringe upon viewing the spectacle of the Wellesley College graduate and resident of New York State speaking with a Southern drawl? It wasnt just the pandering of which all politicians are culpable. Rather, the resulting criticism seemed more to stem from the fact that the whole episode reeked so tellingly of insincerity.
And therein lies one of the most vulnerable aspects of her candidacy: the absence of even a shred of authenticity. Is there any aspect of Hillarys march to the White House that will be, genuine, sincere, spontaneous and not heavily scripted? For many Democrats, the Selma incident simply reinforces the painful answer to this question No. In light of the reality of an alternative in Obama, the inevitable dilemma for party loyalists becomes: how do they explain, enable or continue to justify the incorrigible mendacity of the Clintons?

No, she was in trouble the day Obama entered the Senate..............
No, the beginning of the end was being Hillary.
I think it was the day that Bill stepped forward and whined about all the guys picking on his wife. What I don’t recall was if she had already teared up that day or later, but it was a 1-2 drop of the shoe.
Her claiming to have been named after Sir Edmund Hillary was always pretty Hillarious to me. Every time I think about it, I burst out into a chorus of “Climb Every Mountain.”
Actually, she was in trouble the day Alan Keyes launched his whacko carpet-bagger Senate campaign. Keyes was such a laughably hopeless candidate that he enabled Obama to stop campaigning in Illinois and run around the country campaigning for other Democrats — and STILL win in a huge landslide. This is what laid the foundation for Obama’s support within the Democratic Party and for his widespread name/face recognition among voters nationwide.
Actually it was before that, when Obama’s senate opponents, first in the primary and then in the general, had their private divorce records made public.
I agree. Slick Willie did her in. After her tear-driven comeback in NH, she was doing well. Then Slick Willie started going off in SC about racism and other nonsense, and she tanked. Now that her former allies in the mainstream press have turned against her, she will have to try and steal the nomination somehow. Probably by suing the DNC to have the MI and FLA delegates counted.
She should have demanded the Senator’s position in Illinois instead of New York as a gift/reward for staying with BJ.There would be no Senator Obama today and she’d be the Inevitable One.Location location, location.
Oh I’m sure lotsa Dems. are eager for the Clintons to try to steal the nomination by back room dealing or lawsuits to force the delegations from Michigan and Florida to count. It’s every Democrats dream for Hillary to gain the nomination by any means necessary. (sarcasm)
Speaking of sarcasm, can anyone else believe Hillary’s parody of the heavens opening up, the light shining, and choirs singing, making fun of Obama’s speaking? I can’t believe some of what I’m seeing in this campaign. I don’t think any other candidate could get away with something like that and still be taken seriously.
And how about her complaining about getting the first question in a debate? Sheesh, if she’s tough enough to be president, she better be tough enough to deal with Tim Russert. OR......conversly, if she can’t even handle Tim Russert, maybe she doesn’t have what it takes to be president.
That was part of it. Overall, however, I think America’s just all ways tarrrrrrd of her.
“Her claiming to have been named after Sir Edmund Hillary was always pretty Hillarious to me”
C’mon now . . . you have no sympathy for someone who was either:
1. named at birth after an itinerant bee-keeper in New Zealand?
Or,
2. had NO NAME until she was 8 years old?
Shame, shame!
Alan Keyes!!!
Since I have an odd and unhealthy obsession with Alan Keyes I will be along to check in every time there is a reference to him. Thanks, later.
LOL
Don’t count her out.
Lol.
The “Beginning Of The End” for Hillary was the assumption, accepted by political TV Talking heads the world over, that focus-grouping and huge amounts of cash, buying influence in just the right places, could win without actually CAMPAIGNING....
The Clinton’s paid through the nose for consultant after consultant, threw money around, created outside the Party organizations to do thier dirty work, and believed they had “Bought and Paid For” the Party through thier MoveOn.Borg mimions...
