Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee enjoys the first victory on Super Tuesday for the Republicans as he takes all 18 delegates in the state of West Virginia, winning 52% of the vote, although rumors abound regarding the McCain campaign's possible instruction to their delegates to switch to his side.
Mitt Romney finished second with 47% of the vote, followed by McCain at 1%.
Rumors are circulating that the McCain campaign instructed their delegates to defect over to Mike Huckabee's side as to avoid a Romney victory. Nationally, McCain is significantly ahead of Huckabee and can afford giving the state's 18 delegates to Huckabee, but certainly not to Romney, who was originally in the lead when polling began in West Virginia by a wide margin and trails McCain nationally by only 17 delegates.

Huckabee’s had his immigration plan out there for weeks now Torch.
Jim Gilcrest has stated that Huckabee is the ONLY candidate that actually deals with the problems at the border..and with employers who hire illegals.
Huckabee’s pointed out many times in debate that he supported building the fence..that he was solidly against amnesty and in no way supported sanctuary cities.
Look at both Romney and McCain.. Romney..supported sanctuary cites..and even EMPLOYED illegals..even after it had been brought to his attention...
McCain..we all know his positions on immigration..and they were rightly opposed by the grassroots in our country..
There is a VAST difference between McCain and Huckabee on immigration..you dont get the endorsement of Duncan Hunter, Jim Gilcrest unless you’re serious about fixing the broken borders...
Not so much “wrong” per se as
1. revealing of what the Huckabee campaign is about; and
2. corrupt in that they did not let the normal voting procedure play out. If it had gone to the 4th ballot and Huck had eventually won out then no one would be complaining.
You left out Huckabee and all the issues that Romney is liberal on.
And who were those great conservatives? 1% Duncan, wake me up when it my time to talk Fred, get real if any of these people had been worthwhile candidates they would still be in the race.
I say this to all the McCain supporters:
You may win this nomination ugly. You’ve spearheaded numerous displays of distortion against Governor Romney’s positions. You so deeply fear an honest debate that you kick your fellow Republicans in the groin, to the continued delight of the MSM.
The MSM won’t find this amusing once you have the nomination. They will turn this so-called attribute into a huge negative in a New York minute.
Additionally, as McCain continuously fails to reach out to conservatives, instead treating us with continuous disdain, we promise you this: you may win the nomination, but we will make damned sure that the nomination isn’t worth crap heading into the general election. Keep it up; make our day.
Conservatives can destroy McCain from within and he is about 72 hours away from an irrevocable breach.

On occasion I remind folks not to forget that John McCain, vaunted former military guy and prisoner of war cast aspersions on those heroic Swift Boat Vets who came forth to stop the dishonest John Kerry. Such a loyal military guy he is.
Below, my rant on John McCain and his position as “expert” and final say on the issue of “torture”....said “torture” being waterboarding.
John McCain has no particular problem with torture. Let’s stop kidding ourselves here.
This fine, even-tempered man has had this issue as his own personal mantle much like Maureen Dowd awarded Cindy Sheehan the “absolute authority” title for the loss of her son in Iraq. So too we should give John McCain, a fine, even-tempered fellow, the absolute authority for all things torture. He was a prisoner of war, and using lib logic, thus WE, ie you and I, have no right to say anything as we’ve not experienced torture.
The advent of water-boarding gives the fine, even-tempered John McCain some pause as this action is not viewed as “torture”, in the traditional sense of the word. It didn’t give him too much pause, however, as he carries the award of absolute authority on such mantles proudly and with little logic applied.
It is, after all, NOT about what’s best for this country. It is about getting the fine, very even-tempered John McCain elected president.
Which is how God Himself has ordained.
Sean Hannity just had Newt Gingrich on his show, and tried to get Newt to say Huckabee’s win in West Virginia was because of dirty tricks, and Newt basically said, there weren’t dirty tricks, that’s how things work.
And when Sean tried to get him to say that Huckabee should pull out to give Mitt a better chance, Newt tried to point out that a lot of Huckabee’s supporters would probably go to McCain over Mitt, but it seemed to be falling on deaf ears.

I will laugh at him because he is a nutball. I’ll be laughing at you too. I’ll talk to you in a few months during the Convention when RonPaul is allowed to speak at 2AM so nobody hears him.
On all the important conservative issues ,McCain either voted against them, undermined them or took control of them. I’m sure his vote for Alito went down as a conservative vote but note the little power play he did to be in control of the judicial nominations and voting system. His vote for the War was also probably marked as conservative but look at the damage he did in terms of waterboarding, etc. and his support of giving terrorists the right to be judged by our judicial system rather than the Military courts or his expressed desire to close Quantanomoe. (or however it’s spelled) The list goes on and on. A voting record does not tell the whole story. I’m sure Ron Paul has a highter conservative voting record than McCain but generally conservatives would never think of voting for a man who wants to leave Iraq prematurely.
I feel confident that if McCain is the nominee, he won’t win and hopefully a lesson will be sent to all others who want to somehow merge the democratic and republican party into one big change agent dialectic consensus building party of mush!
I won’t vote for him.

I think Huck is Slick's boy in the GOP, that Huckabee is in fact a Clinton catspaw.
Think about it.
Who would most divide and depress the conservatives in November? Remember, the conservative wing of the GOP is the go-to bunch, the power-pack that turns the votes out with the old fire-in-the-belly patriotism and Clinton-revulsion.
Gotta take them out of the equation for Hill to slide in.
So sucker the GOP'ers into nominating their weakest man, using the 'Ratmedia to spread around lies about how well McCain would "match up" against Hillary (Michael Medved believes it)......and then the 'Ratmedia will take care of McCain in the fall, after he's the nominee.
Slick has a book on McCain. He has something on him, I just know it. He desperately wants the GOP to nominate McCain, because John McCain is his picked loser and would power-down the GOP conservatives.
Just like Bob Dole in 1995, when Jonathan Alter was lying like a dog, telling GOP'ers that they just had to nominate Dole, or they'd never be taken seriously again! (By whom? Well, never mind that part.)
The media are lying to us for the Clintons, and I think Huckabee's role is as a spoiler and an Iscariot. Hell, he's from Hope, Arkansas, and he knows Clinton since forever. Do you REALLY think, after what Huckabee did to the Arkansas GOP (he left it in ruins), that he is a dyed-in-the-wool, authentic Republican? Or a RiNO?
I think Huck's working for Slick, to wreck the national GOP and turn America into a one-party gulag. See if Huckabee doesn't get a cabinet job when Hillary takes the forsworn-lie-of-office.
Newt is also a change agent. Study the heglian dialectic. Newt hans with The Tofflers who want to change our constitution. I’m sure Newt wants McCain to win so that the GOP will have a hand in creating a new one party system. Will Sean ever wake up?
