...has our country slidden so far left that we can do no better than this Bob Dole redux? Slide. Slid. Slud...as Dizzy Dean used to say.
John McCain is most assuredly not "Bob Dole redux".
Bob Dole was a loyal Republican who would've signed any conservative legislation that a GOP Congress sent him.
John McCain can't be counted upon to do that. He is neither loyal, nor trustworthy...nor conservative.
Give me Bob Dole everytime.

Can’t we just have nobody for four years or so. The empty chair is better than any choices we are offered.
Just put an automated veto machine on it and we’ll be way ahead than with any of the candidates offered to us.
Maybe two houses of empty chairs in Congress, too.
The only way that things won’t get much worse.

The best prayer only says, "Thy will be done"
It is in God's hand.
Also a side note to McCain supporters:
You are my enemy.

Maverick Juan McPain
With credit to Paul Shanklin on Rush and the continual inspiration of Doug from Upland
Who is that nut case Senator?
Maverick Juan McPain!
Taking the country who-knows-where
Schmucks are his supporters,
Wants to run the show!
Nuts as dingbat, thats for sure,
Maverick Juan McPain.
Has a head full of wild hairs,
Stuck right up his rear end,
He wants to make his name!
The Constitution can go to hell,
And well lose the Congress as well,
Juan is a nut who loves himself the best!
With a spirit petty and mean,
Calls conservatives extreme,
He appeals to the center of the left!
And as far as we can tell,
The country will go to hell,
Juan is a fool who loves himself the best!
Treats conservatives with disdain,
Certifiably insane,
His politics are the center of the left!
Mavericks not the name that fits him best!

Unfortunately, as a former Catholic and long time Bapticostal, I was mostly taught that Mormonism was a "cult." now you've got your feet on solid ground, eh?

You took the words out of my mouth. Bob Dole ran a poor campaign and made a number of strategic errors in judgment. But he was a decent guy and a real conservative, if not the best one on the block.
McCain is an egotistical madman.
