Let's try to Stop John McCain from getting the GOP nomination (vanity)

Posted on 01/29/2008 10:25:56 PM PST by Sun

It's far from over!

The candidate needs 1,191 delegates to win, and McCain has 97 and Romney has 74, and who knows how many candidates Huckabee will have after all is said and done.

Here's my letter to the editor, which I sent to a couple of newspapers in my area:

"Dear Editor:

While John McCain is a war hero, and I feel a better candidate than any of the Democrat candidates, I cannot vote for him on Super Tuesday.

Here are a few reasons why:

Senator McCain supports human embyronic stem cell research, and the ICC (where the International Criminal Court would be judging Americans). He also was part of the gang of 14, which has stopped President Bush's judicial nominess for circuit courts, etc. from going to the floor for an up or down vote.

I heard a couple of McCain's colleagues say on the radio that he went against the leadership, when the Republicans had the majority, including the culture issues.

John McCain is also the senator that liberal Democrats come to when they want a senator from the Republican side of the aisle. For instance: McCain/Feingold (limits free speech); McCain/Kennedy (amnesty); McCain/Lieberman (50 cents per gallon gas tax increase).

Senator McCain's pro-illegal immigration stance would hurt our national security, as border security is national security. Known terrorists have been caught crossing our borders."

Maybe you'll join me and write a letter to the editor of your own.

“Romney has endorsements just because he ‘saw the light’ last week.”

Last week? George H.W. Bush was pro-choice throughout his political career. When he became Reagan’s running mate, he suddenly (the same month) “saw the light” and became pro-life — and he kept his word.

Reagan and both Bushes and others who all went from pro-choice to pro-life were given the benefit of the doubt by the voters in the party. So why not Romney too? At least, like them, he’s moved in the right direction.

A third party cannot be narrowly focused. It has to have a broad agenda and it will take time to grow. that does not mean in the meantime that you don’t support conservative guys from the GOP or other parties. But I will tell you this. No liberal or moderate republican will get my support ever again, for any reason.

I think Romney needs to play that clip where McCain says something along the line that he does not understand the economy as much as he should.

That had been repeated endlessly and the stupid FL voters STILL voted for McCain! (apology to those here from FL that didn't vote for Mr. McAmnesty)

Good numerical analysis, but you can’t get around that the older folks that voted conservative that are no longer around have been replaced by dumbed-down, brainwashed voters. That’s what our schools pump out these days.

Oh, one more thing. I think as people age, they tend to become more liberal. Once they start getting their monthly checks from the government, they get an attitude of entitlement and all that goes along with it. Plus, feeling older and probably less capable physically, many might see government as their solution and no longer their problem.

Conservatives will still need other conservtives to bitch about Mclame's open borders, McLame's high taxes, McLames dementia, Mclame's cooperation with liberal Democrats......

I think this will draw us together even more and make this site even more beneficial.

“I am not telling anyone to vote for McCain”

What are you telling them? You accused me of PROMOTING Romney, because I was posting against McCain. It’s McCain or Romney. FACT. So, what are you doing?

Romney is a saint compared to McCain. And he has more sense than Huck ever had. Hunter blew it on that one.

Has the death bell rung over the conservative movement in America ???

If McCain gets the nomination, absolutely. We will rise again, however. Probably with a different party.

It’s McCain or Romney. FACT.

You got that right. I don't usually go for the 'lesser of 2 evils' bit, but when one is truly a traitor and in bed with the Dems every chance he gets, I'm voting against him.

“Why are you guilt tripping her for your guy, Romney.”

Guilt tripping? MY GUY? I’m still stunned by this silly statement.

You both need to look at the bigoted statements made about Mormons. I read threads too, you know. This Mormonophobia is insane. Whine and cry all you want, the guy we wanted is OUT. McCAin or Romney are in. YOU decide which and live with it.

Romney is a mormon and the mormon cult has a long history of discrimination...

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1960550/posts

I realize Romney would be expected by his mormon organization to take the oath of office for POTUS on the book of mormon and/or some other mormon literature ....

As the mormons do not recognize the Jewish Old Testament or the Christian New Testament as the authority behind their beliefs...

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1960186/posts

The mormon organization is infamous for putting on the “family values” front. However, divorce rates are just as high among mormons as everyone else. The “goodness” of mormonism is a facade. Like I’ve said before, I don’t want the White House turned into a recruitment poster for mormonism.”

Really

The mormons in these threads keep saying that they are perfect and that the gentiles AKA Christians are sinners...

They look down their arrogant, self righteous noses at us...and call us vicious names

We got to play around with our ‘ideal’ candidate for a year, the time now is for pragmatism and the reality of the lesser of the evils.

_____________________________________________________

Yes I said that

A mormon was griping about Keith Ellison taking a 2nd oath of office on the koran

I would expect if a Buddist was the POTUS he also would feel comfortable taking the oath of office a 2nd time on what ever literature or symbols etc he wanted to

What would happen if an atheist became POTUS ???

We have no law which determines the religious beliefs of the POTUS, nor excludes any either...

I already voted and it was for Fred Thompson, the day after I voted early he pulled out of the race.

After that I made choice to be for Mitt Romney and I sure hope he makes it so I can vote for him when the time comes.

You’ve got five days, either that or we need to do look on the bright side of McCain, he at least has an ACU rating of 82%. He is about as liberal as Bush.

But I am still holding my nose.
