It's far from over!
The candidate needs 1,191 delegates to win, and McCain has 97 and Romney has 74, and who knows how many candidates Huckabee will have after all is said and done.
Here's my letter to the editor, which I sent to a couple of newspapers in my area:
"Dear Editor:
While John McCain is a war hero, and I feel a better candidate than any of the Democrat candidates, I cannot vote for him on Super Tuesday.
Here are a few reasons why:
Senator McCain supports human embyronic stem cell research, and the ICC (where the International Criminal Court would be judging Americans). He also was part of the gang of 14, which has stopped President Bush's judicial nominess for circuit courts, etc. from going to the floor for an up or down vote.
I heard a couple of McCain's colleagues say on the radio that he went against the leadership, when the Republicans had the majority, including the culture issues.
John McCain is also the senator that liberal Democrats come to when they want a senator from the Republican side of the aisle. For instance: McCain/Feingold (limits free speech); McCain/Kennedy (amnesty); McCain/Lieberman (50 cents per gallon gas tax increase).
Senator McCain's pro-illegal immigration stance would hurt our national security, as border security is national security. Known terrorists have been caught crossing our borders."
Maybe you'll join me and write a letter to the editor of your own.
Are you kidding me? He gave Planned Parenthood money back in the early 1990s when he was pro-choice? Big deal.
Perhaps the real reason you don’t like him is because he’s a Mormon? You may as well stop the spin nonsense and just admit it.

Thank you
It is a big deal, but that’s not the point
Just dont lie about his record and flame people who post it.
He did do it...
At least until the full enactment of the Fairness Doctrine truly puts an end to “everything conservative”, including an end to Free Republic.
Do not tell me about McCain being pro life. I contacted him about Terri Schiavo. And he sure was not pro life. On another thread there is a record of McCain talking out of both sides of his mouth. But no matter. The fact is that McCain is the worst of the candidates. He is unfit to be POTUS. Nothing can undo his vote against the Cornyn amendment, his radical stand on amnesty, his outrageous lies, his adultery, CFR, his questionable health, etc.
Perhaps the real reason you dont like him is because hes a Mormon? You may as well stop the spin nonsense and just admit it.

About the mormons
Do the mormons intend to put a woman or a black man or a membder of a minority in that group of 12 leaders after you pick one of them to take Pres Hinckley’s place ???
It’s been 30 years since the mormons finally allowed black men to hold semi leadership positions
I feel that to continue to only appoint WHITE MEN is bigoted, racist, and sexist
“Just dont lie about his record and flame people who post it.”
Please point out where I lied about Romney’s record (though I know you can’t).
I think you may as well stop spinning his record because I’m sure you’re not fooling anybody.
I can only go on McCain’s pro-life voting record...
If he didnt help terry when he could have then I’m sorry...
I was praying for Terry for about the last two years of her life. from the time I found out about the travesty
I felt like one of my own children had been murdered when terry was starved to death...
I have not told any one to vote for McCain
I dont have a dog in the race...
They are all RINOs
I think you may as well stop spinning his record because Im sure youre not fooling anybody.

Then it wont matter one way or the other, will it ???

It is very hard for me to believe that all the citizens that fought amnesty are now going to elect Mr. amnesty. I'm thinking many apathetic voters haven't really paid attention and don't realize McCain IS Mr. Amnesty. We need to educate them!
McCain won Florida because of the immigrants and the endorsement of Crist and Martinez.
I will be sending letters tomorrow. Thanks for sharing yours Sun...we should add that McCain has Juan Hernandez (Mr. open Borders himself) on his paid staff!
it’s bad when you find yourself rooting for Romney
Williamson?
Here in Davidosn...well, I don;t have to explain it to you if you drive around here
You’re depressing me Jim.
this is going to be worse than Clinton sort of since it will be a dagger from our own.
“If McCain gets it, its all over. He has no chance of winning against either Hillary or Obama. Romney does, but not McCain; and certainly not Huckabee.”
If McCain is the nominee many conservatives will vote 3rd party or stay home, but both Romney and Huckabee have an excellent chance, imo.
“Sean hannity is singing McCains praises...”
Sean was just kidding around the first hour, but I’d like to ask Sean if he STILL thinks Giuliani is a conservative when he endorsed LIBERAL McCain.
“A third party cannot be narrowly focused. It has to have a broad agenda and it will take time to grow.”
The point that I was trying to make was that we can’t let our emotions give away the whole pie, when we can have the majority of the pie.
No emotions for me. Just cold, hard calculation. :o)
“questionable health”
So there’s hope?
“I think a win in Florida hardly makes McCain the winner. I read an interesting projection which indicated that in the next few weeks, the three remaining candidates will basically have about the same number of delegates. McCain is expected to win in certain midwestern states, Romney in western states, and Huckabee in several southern states (although he will be limited because these states dont have winner take all provisions). Interesting situation.
BUt in any case, its too soon to annoint McCain, although thats what the press is trying to do because they love him for having stabbed Bush in the back a couple of times.”
This is true, and even in a RINO Gov. Charlie Crist state, McCain only won by a few points.
