No one can accuse the fine public servants of California’s Department of Food and Agriculture of sitting on their hands, and letting raw milk coliforms threaten the health and safety of California consumers.

No, we can all breathe a sigh of relief. The junior he-men, working on behalf of the senior he-man-terminator, are out there…fighting the common enemy, raw milk coliforms.

After creating an uproar by sneaking through a tough standard on coliform bacteria (harmless naturally occurring organisms), California's Department of Food and Agriculture got its way. The standard, contained in AB 1735 passed late last year, is now being enforced after a repeal effort last week failed. And the state's largest dairy failed its first test. As many raw milk proponents have predicted, this could be the first step in interrupting the state's raw milk supply.

Oh, great !!

We just started drinking raw milk about 6 weeks ago (we live in the SF Bay Area). We decided to try it on the advice of a friend, and after reading about it here on Free Republic in an earlier post. We have been drinking it, and like it a lot. We have a jug of OP milk in our refrigerator right now. Even my father told me about how he used to drink raw milk on the farm as a boy, really misses it, and wishes he could get it back in Michigan.

It figures - right as soon as we “discover” something like this, and like it, the government steps in almost immediately to take it away from us. HOW DID THEY KNOW??

Save us, Arnie !! I thought you were supposed to be the terminator!!

: )

I like my milk like my cows, well done. I grew up in a city big enough that the local grocery store had a door that opened it self when you came in, and one just like in for going out. None of my friends at school had a cow at home. One kid a year older did live in a lighthouse and a guy my age lived in the movie theater. The only answer is bootleggers. If you find the right contacts near Hemet I am sure they can set up. The fact that that group of building on Gilman Springs Rd with blue roofs are full of Scientologist is causing this weired post. Do you think they are into raw milk?
