11/28/07 Republican Debate-Log Cabin Republicans

James Vaughn of Log Cabin writes an interesting post on the Republican YouTube Debate.

We respect Gov. Huckabee and his clearly consistent policy opinion on marriage equality, even though we strongly disagree with that policy.

This group, LCR, needs to publicly disclose their endorsement contracts. Their whole endorsement process should qualify as fraud for not making the public aware of their Terms and Conditions for endorsement.

Is there a candidate who would refuse their support?

I heard Huck in an interview with Tim fag-loving Russert about two weeks ago in one of his first Sunday interviews, ask Huck:

"Governor, you said pretty strong things agains homosexuals in 19xxx... let me read them to you.." Huck listening.

"Governor, you said homosexuals were morally unfit or somethng to that effect." "Governor, do you believe homosexuals are born that way or not?" Huck said, I don't know but they make a choice to live that way, etc etc.

I would be SHOCKED if Huck is in any way mixed with the "log-cabin-fags" (whatever).. That would make him a member of the "Christian Left" imo... very different form "Christian Right" or "Social-values conservatives."

I won't even ask for 'sources.' I will expect Huck to address this issue himself. Huck is not dumb... I noticed he addresses all the allegations that come up fairly quickly. So we'll see.

My first choice is Duncan. Main reason? The "quality" of his character. Clearly enough on abortion, homosexuals, strong military, SUWPER-ANTI ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION... pro american workers... one that is willing to look into all the international agreements and how they affect the "Conservative American worker." (I like that).

However... if he does not make it, I will consider Huck.

If Macaca, Mitt or JulieAnnie = I will not vote.

If Thompson, I will decide later since there is plenty of time.

How do I give you a source for endorsement approvals when that is done by our email?

Are you saying you have email from DH's campaign saying DH would or did refuse any endorsement by this group? That would be great.

If so, feel free to post the text.

If Huckabee fizzles, his followers will be looking for another prolife evangelical to fill the void. Hunter fits that bill, no one else in the race is evangelical.

The GOP doesn’t get it. They need to let this faction find a home. The amount of invective aimed at evangelicals is surprising, but then everyone wants their votes.

Huckabee has surged because he won a couple of debates and he’s got evangelical support. If a quick rise can happen to the liberal pro-life evangelical Huckster, it can happen to the conservative pro-life evangelical Hunter.

Prolife evangelicals will be very comfortable in Hunter’s camp, since he’s a prolife evangelical staunch conservative.

The Hunter Campaign never applied for an endorsement with the Log Cabin Republicans. That is an application process. So there was no submission for endorsement approval.

The Hunter Campaign does not accept all endorsements. When they come in they are submitted for approval. Many do get turned down.

Is Jim Pinkerton really gay? The article does not indicate that he is a log cabin republican. He says that McCain is the log cabin choice, but he supports Huckabee, not McCain.

FWIW Pinkerton worked for both Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush.

I guess I never thought one way or the other about Pinkerton’s sexuality. None of his bios list a spouse or children. Does it really matter if he doesn’t allow it to contaminate his work?

You show me exactly where in that interview, Pinkerton says he is a Log Cabin Republican.

Otherwise, please retract.

Is Jim Pinkerton really gay?

Of course. This isn't anything new.

From a WashPost forum...

Bethesda, Md.: I am a proud right-wing young conservative Republican. I also happen to be gay. Which Republican candidate do you believe to be most interested in advancing the gay agenda?

James Pinkerton: Good for you. A local political hero of mine is David Catania, the gay Republican who miraculously got himself elected to the D.C. city council and who even more miraculously managed to enact a big tax cut for D.C. I suppose that McCain has made the most friendly overtures to the Log Cabin Republicans. But I think that Bush would also provide gay GOPers with what they really need: the right to be left alone, the right to make their way in the world unhampered by homophobic zealots and also by governmentophilic bureaucrats. I'm a fan of Rich Tafel's, but the real goal should be that there are just Republicans, and conservatives and libertarians, and that's what defines you politically. Everything else oughtta be private.

I guess we won't be hearing the Reverend Huckabee quoting Leviticus 18:22 on a South Carolina pulpit anytime soon.
