According to people who actually know, I'm told $1,878,138 has been raised since the debate on December 12 from 24,949 people, including $719,534 from 10,237 people. For the week before, week of and week after Christmas, I think thats pretty good. The Politico might not think so, but I think it gets Fred to South Carolina.
Frankly, regardless of the results today in Iowa (and he's going to do better than some are expecting), I think Fred Thompson needs to pull a Reagan '81 (i.e. make a big, bold "I ain't going anywhere" stand), march to South Carolina, and start throwing punches.
Clinton lost Iowa and New Hampshire before winning South Carolina and coming back. Fred has the online support. He's going to do better than people expect in Iowa (he actually is). Huckabee is going to beat Romney today so those two are going to fight like drag queens wearing the same dress to a party. Fred needs to leverage these three things and go to South Carolina.
If nothing else, the hit job in today's Politico should piss him off enough that he does just that.

Interesting as I had it as Huckabee, Thompson, Romney, Paul, McCain. I could settle for his results also.
He and I disagree much more on where the Democrats will fall.

Oh, this is too rich. Check out
McCain may drop out, back Thompson.
The Politico at it again? First it's the Romney camp; now the McCain camp behind the FDT rumors. Sheesh. They can't get anything straight.

    Just random speculation ;-)
Let’s just say there has been a lot of discontent with the slate and Fred has friends....

I have a general disregard for the MSM, and a specific suspicion of anyone associated with the Washington Post after the Macaca coverage of George Allen. Therefore, I have extreme suspicion of the motives of the Politico (formed by former WaPo staffers) and its rapid ascension as a leading punditry of politics.
To me, this is another echo chamber effect, where someone plants a story and then the rest of the MSM echos the story all day long, presumably because "the story" is now the story -- it is no longer about the factual basis for the allegations (or lack thereof).
This gives the MSM cover to continue talking about "the story," the denials of "the story," the investigation of "the story," etc. It is nothing but self-aggrandizing of the MSM, by the MSM, and for the MSM.

It will take time, but that was already planned for. Mitt will be coached on the wisdom of phasing out.
Fred will be second or third, possibly fourth, but it wont matter. He is in this for a reason and that has not come into play yet.It is interesting what you have to say, but for those that have long memories, you are coming off like "trident delta" and or "quidam".

Heh heh, perhaps. However in reality I am nothing but a poor soul with his ear to the ground in a few places and a knack for reading, especially in fluid situations.
I am familiar with the second reference, Quidam, but not the Trident Delta one, at least not in current memory....

Trident Delta was a supposed insider during the impeachment process. Can't beleive it's been so long ago.
I was kind of hoping you DID have a crystal ball. ;)
