According to people who actually know, I'm told $1,878,138 has been raised since the debate on December 12 from 24,949 people, including $719,534 from 10,237 people. For the week before, week of and week after Christmas, I think thats pretty good. The Politico might not think so, but I think it gets Fred to South Carolina.
Frankly, regardless of the results today in Iowa (and he's going to do better than some are expecting), I think Fred Thompson needs to pull a Reagan '81 (i.e. make a big, bold "I ain't going anywhere" stand), march to South Carolina, and start throwing punches.
Clinton lost Iowa and New Hampshire before winning South Carolina and coming back. Fred has the online support. He's going to do better than people expect in Iowa (he actually is). Huckabee is going to beat Romney today so those two are going to fight like drag queens wearing the same dress to a party. Fred needs to leverage these three things and go to South Carolina.
If nothing else, the hit job in today's Politico should piss him off enough that he does just that.

All is as it should, all is as it has been foretold. In the morning Mitt will begin to be told he is way too expensive to keep going...

LOL, I love that line, it's so...apt.
I look for FRed to do his own "michelle moore you tube" hit job on them after the caucus is over.

Fred’s working hard in Iowa. It’s clear he has the determination it takes to win.

I just found the below over at
Confederate Yankee:
Specifically, Scott Elliott is predicting the Republican race in Iowa at Huckabee 30%, Romney 19%, Thompson 18%, Paul at 14%, and McCain at 13%. On the Democratic side, he has Obama blowing away the rest of the field with 38%, Edwards picking up 29%, and Clinton finishing third with just 25%. Coming from anyone else I'd not give these numbers a second look, but Elliott's track record speaks for itself when using his formulas. He is however, using his intuition instead of a formula for this particular prediction, so keep that in consideration.

$1,878,138 has been raised since the debate on December 12 from 24,949 people, including $719,534 from 10,237 people That's $75.28 per donor for the former number, $70.29 for the latter. (That also means the remaining 14,712 donors each pitched in $78.75 on average.)

Freds working hard in Iowa. Its clear he has the determination it takes to win. We need to work hard too! If anyone has the time, please pull up a call list from Fred08.com and make some calls. I'm burning through a list of 20 right now, making use of my time since I'm home from work today with a bad ankle injury.

I like those figures, but I think the Fred number maybe better.
The tale is Mitt. He had to be first, and by at least 15% to make the dollars per vote begin to look viable, and that was a stretch. To be behind Huck, who spent far less than 10 percent of what Mitt spent will be devastating and give the GOP money boys the opening the need to start to nudge him on down the road...

I think it's very possible that Huckabee will withdraw before Thompson. Huckabee probably isn't in much better financial shape than Thompson is. If Huckabee fails to win Iowa or South Carolina, I don't see how he keeps going.
Huckabee's support came easy, and I think it's going to go easy.
To: ejonesie22; Clara Lou
I like those figures, but I think the Fred number maybe better. With Clara Lou having Romney @ 19% and Fred at 18%, you're effectively saying Fred could come out ahead of Mitt, & in second place. That would be huge (or should I say hugh) should it happen.
Time will tell. But I do see what you're saying about the Romney dollar-to-vote ratio. However it might take a lot of nudging to get Romney down that road to oblivion.

It will take time, but that was already planned for. Mitt will be “coached” on the “wisdom” of phasing out.
Fred will be second or third, possibly fourth, but it won’t matter. He is in this for a reason and that has not come into play yet.

According to the link below, Fred has at least $5 million cash-on-hand, not counting the $1.9 million figure the campaign just released!! http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/index.asp
That tells me that Fred Thompson is most likely in far better shape than Mike “Open Borders for Jesus” Huckabee.
Why would Fred drop out before the Southern primaries?

“He is in this for a reason...”
Right you are. He is in it , first and foremost, to serve. He is in it because he knows the rest of the guys are fundamentally flawed as candidates. He is in it because he believes he is the best bet to minimize the chances of the Clintons’ return to the executive branch.
