Tesla may begin delivering Roadsters with temporary transmissions[will fail in a few thousand miles]

The skinny is that Tesla is having a difficult time developing a transmission strong enough to "survive the process of shifting gears while the motor remains at full torque", according to our own Sam Abuelsamid who has been following the Roadster's development from Day 1 and has actually rode shotgun in it. Two suppliers are currently working simultaneously to find a solution. Meanwhile, the company has gone ahead and built the first production model at the Lotus factory in Hethel, England. The first car belongs to Elon Musk, Chairman of the company and one of its initial investors. His car is fitted, however, with a transmission that he knows will fail in a few thousand miles.

Tesla also revealed that it is considering shipping some preordered Roadsters to customers early with similar transmissions that will be temporary and later replaced with the stronger transmission once it's developed.

OK you divest, driving the stock price down in a stampede of investor panic. Brokers jumping off buildings. Doom. Gloom.

Then let me know. I’ll buy then ok?... :)

::laughing:: once an old cars frame is bent, it is all over.

A great thing about those old cars, you can do most of the maintenance, if not work, yourself. And they are great to teach kids how to work too. My 10 year old already knows how to change the oil.

As for the the amount of people working for the Paul campaign, yes, they are a lot of libs. But, since I live in a liberal area, I see a large amount of them. So, the perception of amount may be due to geography.

I know at least one person who is a big supporter of Code Pink (sadly, my own sister) who tells me more than a few of the people she knows support Ron Paul.

Knowing the Code Pinkos as I do from the few times I have interacted with them outside Walter Reed and at the Gathering of Eagles last March...that is enough for me to know what I need to know.

I agree...as I live in Massachusetts, so...most are liberals here anyway.

I should stop. I have already hijacked this poor guy’s thread...I just KNEW there was a reason I never read those comments at YouTube...they just set me off, so I ignore them. I couldn’t resist this time, though. I wanted to see what others thought of the car.

:) Sorry, I helped hijack the thread too. I’ll just say, Code Pink supports Ron Paul because Log Cabin Republicans are anti war.

Ron Paul is a LCR:

2004 - Log Cabin Congratulates Our Victorious Candidates (2004)

The funding for the LCRs was set up by David Mixner, an antiwar activist. He also set up the funding for the Victory Fund Democrats. They all sign the same contract.

Now back to Tesla!

Room enough for a chick.

And that's all that really matters. :-)

Not in the back seat.

And that's all that really matters. :-)

At least to the kind of guy who buys that kind of car.

Cheers!
