Dec. 13, 2007... based on the following news stories:
Thompson: debate "monkey business"
At a post-debate campaign stop, Republican candidate Fred Thompson explained his reason for refusing to answer a debate question by a show of hands, calling it "monkey business."
"I just decided that I wasn't going to engage in any of this monkey business that they like to engage us on sometimes -- making us look like trained monkeys reaching for peanut or something ... 30 seconds is brief enough and when they try to reduce your answer to just a hand raise -- I 'aint going to play that game," the former Tennessee senator said.

Raise you hand if you think Fred won the debate.
My hand is raised; and I’m not monkeying around.

Momentum ping?
Who is that stupid woman who moderated? This is my problem with Iowa in general. I wish candidates would just blow them off. I could not care less what the morons there think. And I can only imagine how many tens of billions in farm welfare taxpayers could have saved if there was no Iowa caucuses every 4 years.
Maybe Fred is trying to make these debates more presidential than circus material...

Fred stands up to Liberal moderator.
WHAT is your problem pal? I am from Iowa and plan to return to Iowa to raise my family. Number 1 we aren’t morons. Number 2 the kindest down to earth conservatives you will ever find live in Iowa. And you know what, I just decided that I don’t care what you think.
Cool! Thanks...
Merry Christmas!

Excellent! We need more moments like that where candidates stand up to the press and say ‘that question is stupid”! What the moderator attempted was worse than a sound-bite.
LOVE that still shot!
Rudy, Mitt, Huck, and McCain could not have more definitely conferred LEADERSHIP on Thompson than if they had just flat come out and said it in plain English.
Fred speaks; they listen, hands hanging in the air, then drop their hands and do the “Yeah. What he said,” thing.
SSOOO TOTALLY PWN3D!
I’m from NYC and a Catholic. Both are bashed here regularly. I try not to take it personally.
I couldn't stand that woman either but I wouldn't go so far as to call all Iowans morons. However, I get a little sick and tired of all the attention Iowa and NH get this time every four years. Neither state is representative of the nation as a whole. I think the parties ought to be able to come up with some kind of rotation where other states can play too.

Excerpt:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) From behind an anchor desk ringed with empty Budweiser cans and Jack Daniel's bottles, the pundits of "Red State Update" dissect election politics from the good ol' boy point of view. The Web-based sketches star "Jackie Broyles" and "Dunlap" deriding Democrats' inability to talk to NASCAR fans or inflating and then deflating home state hero Fred Thompson. (He's not lazy, the real-life former Tennesseans insist "he's just real old.")
They ape cable network talking heads with such comedic commentary as volunteering to help Mitt Romney on his yardwork so he won't be criticized for hiring illegal aliens or speculating on Rudy Giuliani's love life. They focus on national politics but play to blue collars outside the Beltway instead of Washington insiders. * * *
Jackie and Dunlap got a shot at mainstream celebrity during CNN's YouTube Democratic debate in July when they asked the candidates whether all the media attention on Al Gore "hurts y'all's feelings?" * * *
That moment in the debate was classic! Fred is absolutlely right. 30 seconds isn’t enough to answer a question thoroughly anyway, but the hand raising is like kindergarten stuff; totally inappropriate for Presidential candidates.
Caught with their hands in the air. the caption should read.....
We surrender, we are RINOS and we stand for nothing!
They ARE funny! I loved the “Democrats do NASCAR” bit!
