Here is video of Fred Thompson on the Charlie Rose program last night, a full hour of detailed responses. Rush Limbaugh was playing some of Fred's responses today about what a "conservative" is, and praising Fred's remarks. BFFT member "kerrhome" has sent a transcript of the comments Rush Limbaugh had to say about this interview. Compare the strong and serious answers from Fred on major issues to the one-liners we get out of our new frontrunner - Mike Huckabee. I loved the whole interview, but on the question of “torture”, Fred deserved a standing O. He said he would “authorize *any* means necessary” to obtain information if American lives were in jeopardy. (!!!) Yeah! Bob

Anyone who has bought the derogatory image that the MSM has created of Fred Thompson should watch this interview all the way through. Ten second sound bites cherry picked by a hostile media don’t do the man justice.
Conservative principles are American principles. With the right man articulating them, they sell themselves. This is Fred’s greatest advantage.

Fred’s straight forward answer to the torture question dispelled any doubts I might have had that Fred Thompson is the man! Fred did not waffle or try to have it both ways, he simply made his case and rested. After all, anybody with an ounce of brains who knows that the lives of thousands or millions of Americans are at stake is not going to shrink from whatever might be necessary to prevent it! We are up against people who are capable of killing a woman for giving a Teddybear an unacceptable name!

Go Fred! Save the NEA endorsements for that Democrat Mike Huckabee.
I especially liked his take on extracting information from prisoners.
“Thompson: I’m telling you, as President, if the lives of a bunch of American citizens were at stake and I thought that there was a good chance that an individual had information and could impart information that would help save those lives, I’m just saying, that I would do whatever is necessary to get that information from that person. I would authorize that. Whatever is necessary to save a number of American lives (emphatically).”

Exactly! I never watched Charlie Rose before but he gave a good interview and Fred was wonderful.
