RON PAUL WINS ANOTHER ROUND [so says a commie at The Nation]
The Nation ^ | 11/28/2007 | John Nichols

Posted on 11/29/2007 9:26:18 AM PST by nsmart

Arizona Senator John McCain tried to resuscitate his ailing campaign for the Republican presidential nomination by attacking Texas Congressman Ron Paul's anti-war stance during Wednesday night's CNN/YouTube debate.

But, as in previous Republican debates where leading contenders have stumbled in their attempts to attack the renegade congressman, it was Paul who ended up drawing the cheers of the crowd.

Playing his Thanksgiving visit to Iraq for political points, McCain tore into Paul for arguing -- as part of a discussion about spending -- that bringing the troops home from Iraq would save "a trillion dollars."

Just as former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani tried in an earlier debate to buff his national-security credentials by attacking Paul's suggestion that misguided U.S. foreign policies increased the likelihood of terrorist attacks, McCain attempted to burnish his image as a champion of the troops by attacking Paul -- and, by extension, all critics of the war.

Invoking memories of the American First movement's opposition in the late-1930s and early-1940s to preparation for the fight with Hitler and Mussolini, McCain declared, "it's that kind of isolationism that caused World War II."

That rhetorical flourish drew hisses from the Republican crowd that listened to the debate in St. Petersburg, Florida

But Paul did not need the audience to protect him.

Are you ready for dc run health care? Which candidate other than Ron Paul will fight for your right to decide between your doctor and yourself what needs to be done and what it costs?

I’ve been out of the country 4 times in the last 10 years.

Nations such as China and Middle Eastern countries will instill a new appreciation for how good you have it back home. My trips to Europe do not have as profound effect, but it's a start.

...get a clue!

Oh, I have a clue. That's why I would never consider such an inadequate candidate as Ron Paul.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who can even spell SOVEREIGNTY

A little hyperbolic, isn't that?

We, Freepers, used to question membership in CFR (Council on Foreign Relations). We knew what it meant to be a globalists.

We, Freepers, would have come unglued if the Democrats passed the RealID law!

We, Freepers, knew how dangerous Hillary would be.

I don’t get it. I don’t understand how you can support the current crop of candidates who all belong to the CFR.

"... admit that you’re a socialist lib..."

Still all tongue and no brains!

Again, I challenge you to find one of my post sympathetic to a Rhino, lib or Socialist stand on any issue.

In the mean time, try again explaining why the "Conservative" Paul - when asked about splitting the ticket with Socialist Kucinich did not answer "out of the question" rather than it was "premature"?

Even the lowest GOP RHINO would have said "out of the question"

You and I know it, but telling the Paulie Girls is very much like telling six year olds there is no Santa.

Your right, but its still cruel....(chuckle)

And the amounts the Paulies go around touting are pledged amounts.

Wrong-o. You needed to give them your credit card information and your card was immediately charged.

We still do. Ron Paul is not the answer.

Can't speak for everyone, but I am vehemently opposed to it. Ron Paul is not the answer.

We, Freepers, knew how dangerous Hillary would be.

We still do. She would be every bit as dangerous as Ron Paul.

We, FReepers, used to support our armed forces and the strong defense of our nation. We, FReepers, would never side with people like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Ron Paul or groups like MoveOn, Code Pink, etc. by denouncing the War on Terror or attempting to demoralize our troops on their road to victory.

Oh, wait! We, FReepers still are like that. At least the vast majority of us are.

Globalists, neocons, fiat currency, yep the checklist is almost complete.

Now we only need the terms LIHOP and MIHOP on this thread, and we’ll have the full complete checklist of talking points every supporter of Ron Paul needs.

But don’t forget, Ron Paul supporters are NOT conspiracy nuts!

< /SARC >

I was a little wrong on another thread when I said I was sick of the bickering about candidates on FR. One candidate (other than Rudy) that RICHLY deserves thorough and complete trouncing on FR anytime his name is mentioned is Paul.

Now if only his supporters could figure out 95% of the country is against them, and quit trying to vainly prop up their version of the Weekend at Bernie’s corpse by irrationally attacking the others, then maybe we could start talking rationally about the other candidates.

Norad missed it entirely.

NORAD is for missile detection, not for commercial aircraft.

Ron Paul sponsored a bill to let Blackwater go after him for a bounty.

He wrote this completely superfluous bill long after the President put a $50M bounty on bin Laden's head open to all comers, not just Blackwater.

Ron Paul is not only a clown, he was also very late to the party.

Ron Paul never ‘justified’ bin laden’s actions. That is a neocon one trick pony and its getting old.

He made his statements on national television. They are a matter of public record and they are indefensible.

The 9/11 commission stated our interventionist policies caused them to strike us.

The 9/11 Commission said nothing of the kind.

Your opinions are the opinions of a traitorous buffoon.

You are extremely lucky that you did not call our armed forces terrorists in my physical presence. I'll leave it at that.

The rest of your paranoid rambling is undeserving of comment.

I did that where?

I quote you verbatim:

Sending in our entire military and dropping bunker busters and shock and awe (a form of terrorism, in my opinion)

I don't care what sex you claim to be. A traitor is a traitor and deserves a traitor's fate, whether the traitor's name is Julius or Ethel.

Freepers have always had Libertarian leaning conservatives in our midsts. And sometimes we have disagreed. But not until Ron Paul were we called names, that I recall.

It seems like George Bush is to be followed unquestionably and that is not ever what our nation was about.

Bringing our troops home, especially the ones on their 3rd or 4th tour in Iraq, cannot be linked with any other term than COMPASSION! Ron Paul has been very generous with the Vets. Ask anyone. Its one of his primary support groups. And the donations are showing it.

Wrong-o.

Really? Then why make requests like this?

Please continue to pledge as some may find they cannot fulfill their full amounts when collections start. Thank you!

You needed to give them your credit card information and your card was immediately charged.

You really wasted your money doing that? Yikes!

What was the purpose of shock and awe? And which soldiers did I call terrorists? The people who order light shows like that to scare the shit out of civilian populations are heartless in my opinion....
