Or better yet, win with our integrity intact.
IF we manage to bypass the gatekeepers, and get Hunter known, he will have general appeal as well as motivate the conservative base to get out and vote!

“Fred just was endorsed by NRTL.”
My husband and I used to contribute to them, but stopped a number of years ago, because of various things.
In my area, a man was running for the state assembly, so I called him at his home and asked him his position on abortion. He told me that he respected my position (which is what they all say), but was pro-choice.
THEN a few days later, I received a flyer from the RTL in my area ENDORSING this man. So I called the RTL Committee, and finally got to their spokesperson who said the man responsible for putting out the flyers made a foolish mistake.
Between their mistakes, and less than perfect commitment to the life issue, we wont be contributing to them again.
The pro-abortion version contains nearly identical language, but omits the list of pro-life votes and the language concerning his pro-life voting record. -LifeNews, August 18, 2007
See the underlined.
Nearly identical language to a pro-life paper would say what?
I suspect this is an unverifiable hit against Thompson. If we get a Thompson/Hunter or Hunter/Thompson ticket, we will regret giving credence to badly disguised hits against any of our acceptable candidates.
I am saving your post to Word. I wish you could get a photo. Thanks for a humbling reminder of who Hunter is, and likewise his supporters. I admit, I had forgotten, and have been thinking, “if only (x) would endorse Hunter”. Pete + Cyrus > (x), and thanks for the reminder.
Why won’t Numbers USA take down the oft disproved factoids? Numbers USA even solicits information that would correct any mistakes they might have made. It would seem to me if Numbers USA was wrong Fred would have a slam dunk lawsuit. Why doesn’t Fred go after them?
Fred was knee deep in CFR. He didn’t simply vote for it. Are you denying Fred was a contributing Author to the bill?
Beats me. Could it be for the same reasons that they dishonestly conflate legal immigration and illegal immigration issues?
Not at all. I'm just asking folks to call the bill by its proper (common) name, and not to falsely call it by another name. Debate on the merits, not on lies.
I do, I have a problem with “Legal Immigration”. You are playing a semantics game. Fred is not being bashed here. If, in fact any of this is hard hitting, that is for Fred to reconcile. To be honest, I saw this as a weak and very kind, comparative.
The McCain-Feingold Bill, first proffered as McCain-Feingold-Thompson was passed as McCain-Feingold, which was unfair to Fred Thompson, who was instrumental in its authoring and passage. Better?
Your clarification is better, still a bit snide, but at least honest. A shame the author of this piece of junk wasn't as honest.
Thanks for the flag. Getting rough around here, indeed.
I still don’t get it. Hunter is a walking encyclopedia on the border and on trade, he has a long track record of conservative policies, and he never pauses or needs to look at notes when he talks. Yet we keep hearing that “unelectable” bullclinton.
Hunter’s biggest obstacle is the fact that his trade policies for China and his stance on illegals threaten some of the big money in the GOP that depends on the slave labor from both of these sectors.
I think you hit the nail on the head. But we will overcome the monied interests in the GOP.
Well, we could debate the illegal and legal conflations and quite honestly I think I could win that debate, Kev. Not to get deep into debate at this time, I would simply point out that expired Visas account for a great deal of the illegal immigrants in this country.
Kev, quite simply, we can build the fence and hire more border patrol and that will go a long way in solving the problem. Yet if we increase the number of Visas, they have an in and can bypass border security altogether. The so-called Legal immigration was thrust upon us by Kennedy in 1965. It increased the numbers of immigrants and also, noticeably, increased the numbers from the 3rd world countries. We can’t sustain 1.25 million immigrants per year and there is as much at stake with legal immigration as illegal immigration.
First, there is no chance he will be the nominee. And folks, don't bother throwing that crap at me about how he'd be winning if people would stop supporting the frontrunners because "they can win." Well, in a race where everybody is trying to put themselves forth as the real conservative, a guy with Hunter's cred should be in the top tier. It's like having a contest for "the car company that employs the most Americans" and GM doesn't enter, but Saab, Puegot, Hyundai and Toyota are in it. The reason he isn't is that he has little organization and no fundraising ability outside his district worth mentioning.
Second, I disagree with the idea of returning abortion law to the states, but I see no point in quibbling over this issue when the three members of the top tier opposing Thompson are one pro-abortion extremist, a guy who's absolutley untrustworthy on this issue and a guy who's untrustworthy on almost everything else, especially free speech. I'll be voting for Hunter when the Illinois primary rolls around, but that's because the nominee will be chosen before we vote. If you live in an early state you should consider that we need to get a nominee who will not just win, but actually appoint pro-life judges. Rudy won't, Mitt probably won't, McCain probably will but God only knows what other horrors he'll visit on us.
Choose wisely and choose for the real world. This ain't theory, folks. The next President will appoint two Supremes during his or her first term.
Yes, and the next president should be a Reaganite as well. Abortion is very important, and Hunter is tops in that category. But he is stronger in almost every other as well, including immigration, where he blows even Tancredo’s sox off.
Do what is right, not what is easy.
Support him all you can, for as long as he decides to stay in it, but as long as his campaign management is playing a losing game in the real world of high-stakes politics, he will be at the end of the line for support nationally.
All I can tell you is to have a backup plan. Ask yourself the serious question about what candidate you can support, if, and when Duncan has to leave the race.
>So do I. If he radiates that sense of trust to us why the heck isn’t he doing better?<
Well, let’s see. A while back his website was sabotaged, but we got that fixed. Then moderators in all debates have virtually ignored him. I doubt the networks give him any air time at all.
God bless Glenn Beck for having him on for the full hour the other night, but even then, our local service cut off the last five to seven minutes of that show with multiple commercials and repeated local news.
When will people realize the Totalitarian MSM will do ANYTHING to keep a proven Conservative from moving into the White House? It would ruin their agenda!
The wonder is Rep. Hunter has the following he has! Does that answer your question?
Now! His grassroots popularity is soaring. We must do our part if we want to see the man who best represents our principles and goals win the primary.
PLEASE contribute today to insure he is included in the Iowa debate on Dec. 4. http://www.gohunter08.com
Thank you. :)
So you decide to punish the entire country because you don’t like how his campaign staff has performed? This man is running on a wing and a prayer. He doesn’t want special interest backing because he belongs to none of them.
Hunter writes his own speeches. He does not hire a consultant because he doesn’t need anyone telling him what to say. This guy is 100% Mr. Smith goes to Washington, with the addition of 26 years of experience and success.
He is one of the few in government who truly represents the people!
Hunter’s only concern is to correct where he sees his country headed. That is one of the reasons why I am 100% with Hunter.
It's all well and good to write your own speeches, not hire any consultants, and generally miss opportunities to get your face in front of microphones and cameras......if you are running for City Council or local governement or dog catcher.
This is the PRESIDENTIAL level campaign, with rules that are far more Darwinian a process than any other political arena. If you don't have the apparatus to compete, you lose.
Sorry, if this upsets you, but the truth is still the truth.
>...his stance on illegals threaten some of the big money in the GOP that depends on the slave labor from both of these sectors.<
You’ve got that right!
Love your “bullclinton”! Do you mind if I permanently adopt it?

That’s a load of crap. He’s only in it now to help his son.
