..and this after all the buzz today about National Right to Life Committee’s possible endorsement-—very confusing IMO...
And Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Rudy Giuliani, and John McCain, and Mitt Romney...
Oops... it said "conservatives."
Just another example of Thompson’s “conservative” record. Boo!! Hiss!!

And again, I want to know: Who's the best alternative to Thompson with regard to this issue? If you say Hunter, I'll believe it when I see evidence to support that there's a chance he's known or popular enough to win the nomination, let alone the presidency. His campaign certainly hasn't communicated his stance on the issue, as Thompson's has.
I don’t suppose that after 5 years the man might have looked at some of the lack of evidence supporting man-made global warming and the evidence that shows it is caused by the sun and maybe has just changed his mind?
Of all the things for a politician to change their mind on, might it not be OKAY for them to change their minds after reviewing more scientific evidence??
Much of the scientific studies that show the link between the sun, cosmic rays and clouds, which clearly refutes that CO2 is causing global warming, is very recent.
No... I guess that doesn’t matter and this is just an attempt to bash Thompson because he hasn’t always taken a position that conservatives take on this issue.
At least he is one of the few candidates currently saying he doesn’t believe man is causing global warming. Oh wait.. I’ll be Hunter has ALWAYS had the correct opinion.
Too bad he doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance on Mercury of getting elected.
But...but...Fred’s your 2nd choice!
lots of uncertainty regarding global warming.....
many things besides co2 need to be understood.....
needs further study......
All things I’d say and I don’t believe in global warming either.
"And while we dont know for certain how or why climate change is occurring, it makes sense to take reasonable steps to reduce CO2 emissions without harming our economy." - LINK

Statement of U.S. Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham
~~ AGW ping~~
Why are you posting these attacks on Fred? Fred was simply concerned with the “potential” threats at that time. Fred is running for President now and has no such concerns, so why all the attacks on a a good conservative. Fred is a Federalist and he believes Global Warming is a matter for the states as the founders and framers intended.
This was likely nothing more than a staffers mistake and Fred will get around to clearing this up just as soon as is he is ready. Fred doesn’t dance to anyones tune. Fred knows what he is doing. This was probably subterfuge and Fred will spring into action just when they think he is for Global Warming and spring the trap he has set for them. Move on, nothing to see here.
Back in 2002 when people were all enamored with the Mann hockey stick computer model, it appeared real. It wasn’t until 2006 and the Wegman report to Congress in the Barton Committee that the Mann hockey stick was thoroughly discredited that the only one using it any more is the Goracle. Search for “AD HOC COMMITTEE REPORT ON THE HOCKEY STICK GLOBAL CLIMATE RECONSTRUCTION” July 2006 and you will find it. Or check the Congressional record for same.
Today we understand the whole of the global warming alarmist hoax rests on a few inaccurate, incomplete computer models that can literally produce any result you want by presetting the boundary conditions and other ‘fudge factors’. There is no consistent empirical source data which supports the alarmist AGW hypothesis. The ice cores — nope, ice caves — nope, the tree ring data — nope, gauge temperatures — nope, and last of all, the 30 years of satellite data — nope. In fact, the 1970s ice age predictions are closer to true today than the warming predictions, proving that climate changes.
Now that the hoax has being exposed, even the English court recognizes the alarmists hoax for what it is, Fred may want to rethink his position. If you can hoax Limbaugh, you can hoax Fred.
This is at complete odds with his radio commentary on global warming from earlier this year....

Thompson did vote in favor of cloture on the Daschle’s amendment. I took a look at that vote, and noticed something that doesn’t track with the author’s contention here. The author claims that Thompson’s vote in favor of cloture on that amendment was a bad vote. But that isn’t supported by when who voted in favor of cloture, and who voted against.
Among the 86 senators who voted in favor of cloture, you’ll see Thompson, Nickels, Santorum, Sessions, and Smith from NH.
On the other hand, here is the full list of senators who voted against cloture: Boxer, Cantwell, Clinton, Feingold, Feinstein, Graham, Kyl, McCain, Murray, Reed, Schumer, Stabenow and Wyden.
From that information, this vote obviously wasn’t as clear-cut as the author represents (that’s not to say it was a good bill — but given the seantors who supported cloture, it certainly warrants more digging). I will investigate more deeply, but I’m unimpressed by the author’s lack of intellectual honesty in his omission of the fact that most conservative senators also voted for cloture, and some of the worst liberal hacks in the senate voted against.
Aaaand, now it’s clear where the author erred (or lied, but let’s say “erred”).
The Title X text for which the author erroneously claims Thompson voted cloture *is not* the bill Thompson (and Inhofe, and Santorum) voted on — the Title X text the author includes is the amendment as Daschle originally submitted it.
The Title X Daschle amendment that Thompson spoke favorably about, and on which Thompson, Inhofe, Sessions, Santorum, et al voted cloture, had been subject to many amendments (see below for a complete list of amendments submitted, many of which passed). The final Title X Daschle amendment included:
-An amendment “to direct the Secretary of Energy to carry out a program within the Department of Energy to develop advanced reactor technologies and demonstrate new regulatory processes for next generation nuclear power plants.” (passed by voice vote)
-An amendment “to direct the Secretary of Energy to study designs for high temperature hydrogen-producing nuclear reactors.” (passed by voice vote)
-An amendment to prohibit increased fuel standards for pickup trucks (http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=107&session=2&vote=00048)
-An amendment “to provide for access to the Alaska natural gas transportation project and other purposes.”
-An amendment to facilitate timely action on oil and gas leases and applications for permits to drill and inspection and enforcement of oil and gas activities.
-An amendment to “amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide for a credit for the production of Alaska natural gas.”
-An amendment “to direct the Secretary of Energy to submit to Congress a report that identifies current and potential research at Department of Energy nuclear facilities relating to the production or use of hydrogen.”
No wonder anti-global-warming folks voted in favor of cloture (and Thompson spoke in favor of all the work/additions to the original amendment). No wonder the votes against cloture were overwhelmingly from global warming and environmental zealots.
Very poor research by the author. It’s interesting that with all the research the author clearly did, he didn’t mention any of this, nor did he provide a link to the cloture vote so we could see for ourselves how the votes broke down. Pathetic.

What you should know about Fred’s NRLC endorsement
He has some responses in looking into the NRLC endorsement that showed some weight given to Thompson defunding Planned Parenthood from the monies they received through Title X.
And yet, this editorial by A.J. Madison, Fred Thompson, the Global Warming President?, shows that Fred Thompson co-sponsored Title X.
hmmmmm
