Washington, D.C. – Republican presidential candidate Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) criticized fellow GOP contenders Thompson and Romney after they released ‘position papers’ on illegal immigration apparently discovering only just recently the policy he has been advocating for years.
Both the Romney and Thompson plans talk tough on border security and cracking down on illegal immigration, but the plans beg the question as to why their records don’t reflect such rhetoric.
Rep. Hunter explained, “I can tell you that my proposals to significantly increase and strengthen deportations, penalties, interior and border enforcement, and to curtail the incentives for illegal aliens generally had few vocal allies in the US Senate…Mr. Thompson certainly was not among them.”
He continued, “As for Mr. Romney, the fact that many cities in Massachusetts were, and remain, protected sanctuaries for illegal aliens, makes one wonder if this is just one more of the those ‘I saw the light’ moments.”
While Congressman Hunter is pleased to see the GOP candidates move towards the positions he has been advocating for decades, he stated, “watching Senator Thompson, Governor Romney, Mayor Giuliani and now even Governor Huckabee attempting to outflank one another on this issue is, frankly, amusing; after long careers where the problem was either ignored, or in some cases, exacerbated”.
Rep. Hunter authored and shepherded legislation that built a two-layer border fence outside of San Diego leading to a 53% drop in crime and 90% decrease in drug trafficking along that corridor. Hunter’s message of a stronger national defense, tighter border security, and fair trade with China is resonating with voters across the nation.

Hunter has earned every cent he has been paid by government in his 26 years in Congress, because he has worked diligently for what is Consitutionally best for America, often against the voting of his campaign collegues!
Thompson lobbied Washington for over 20 years, sometimes for questionable causes reprehensible to conservatives.

***I know this is a kinda selfish thing to suggest, but some who have the means might also be able to make money pushing for Hunter. A Hunter position is currently very cheap, and all it takes is for him to go to 3 or 4% and someone could make 5 to 10X return on their money.

Serving in Congress for 26 years is different than being in the Senate for 26 years. For starters, Congressmen are much more in tune with voters and the pulse of the issues. Second of all, Congressmen only serve two-year term intervals. You can't get nothing done in 2 years, which is why most Congressmen get re-elected.
I have more respect for Hunter's career than I do for someon who served a scant 4 years as Governor (Romney) or an actual single-term as Senator (Fred).
It doesn’t matter to me whether it’s 3 or 30 in showbiz. Like the truth matters to you anyway. The truth of Thompson’s votes in Congress has been posted hundreds of times but that doesn’t matter to his supporters.
No, but they show up on Duncan threads to let us all know that Duncan is not qualified. He needs to be a governor first, then maybe. Or he has no name recognition, he should get on tv more.

BTW, Pissant. This article is about how Hunter “criticized fellow GOP contenders Thompson and Romney”. So perhaps your approach to shedding light on some of these candidates’ positions is kinda sorta vindicated. I’ve been staying away from those threads because I didn’t want to knock down a good conservative, but for immigration I think it might be time for me to engage. And thank you for the hard work you’re doing, it’s obviously no fun but you do a valuable service to the party.
Even in a sure thing, I am no gambling woman, Kev, and I’m too old to change my spots. My money belongs to the Lord, and, somehow, I just don’t think he would approve. But the money I send to DH’s campaign is money well spent, for if he wins, the entire country wins, and it will remain God’s country!

Same here. I can’t bring myself to gambling, except that the stock market strikes me as a legitimate gambler’s paradise and it has me conflicted. The parable of the guys with their talents and the one who wouldn’t even risk his, not even put it in the bank, that one comes to mind.
But for us cheapskates, you can still play the market with fake money.
The current studies on futures markets are suggesting that there are correlations between the fake money futures markets and the real money ones. That’s why these are popping up.

And where was Duncan for the Presidents visit? It is his area as representative burning to the ground isn't it?
Who is running his campaign to miss an opportunity like that?
