Road to Des Moines Conversions on Immigration (Hunter Press release)
News Which Cannot Lose ^ | 10/25/07 | Duncan Hunter/staff

Posted on 10/26/2007 11:42:37 AM PDT by pissant

Washington, D.C. – Republican presidential candidate Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) criticized fellow GOP contenders Thompson and Romney after they released ‘position papers’ on illegal immigration apparently discovering only just recently the policy he has been advocating for years.

Both the Romney and Thompson plans talk tough on border security and cracking down on illegal immigration, but the plans beg the question as to why their records don’t reflect such rhetoric.

Rep. Hunter explained, “I can tell you that my proposals to significantly increase and strengthen deportations, penalties, interior and border enforcement, and to curtail the incentives for illegal aliens generally had few vocal allies in the US Senate…Mr. Thompson certainly was not among them.”

He continued, “As for Mr. Romney, the fact that many cities in Massachusetts were, and remain, protected sanctuaries for illegal aliens, makes one wonder if this is just one more of the those ‘I saw the light’ moments.”

While Congressman Hunter is pleased to see the GOP candidates move towards the positions he has been advocating for decades, he stated, “watching Senator Thompson, Governor Romney, Mayor Giuliani and now even Governor Huckabee attempting to outflank one another on this issue is, frankly, amusing; after long careers where the problem was either ignored, or in some cases, exacerbated”.

Rep. Hunter authored and shepherded legislation that built a two-layer border fence outside of San Diego leading to a 53% drop in crime and 90% decrease in drug trafficking along that corridor. Hunter’s message of a stronger national defense, tighter border security, and fair trade with China is resonating with voters across the nation.

Why does this matter to you anyway? Unless you just love to kick the underdog in the gut repeatedly and visciously, which I think is more the case.

Don’t you think that globalist Bush is in league with the “give no patriot air or face time” media? Naivety beyond belief! Bush is pushing for the NAU, and the SPP, both of which Rep. Hunter is firmly against.

Brownback is definitely ‘soliciting’ Giuliani for a job!

The media hates Bush, but he is in cahoots with them to keep Hunter out of the picture?

Are you serious?

I'm glad Hunter is also calling attention to this, but gotta give credit for the "Road to Des Moines" quip to Tancredo in the....3rd, I think, debate.

I got a couple of conversions tonight. A union member and his wife.

I went to a friend’s house and he said he was considering Thompson. I kicked his daughter off the computer and dug up voting records and past comments for Hunter and Thompson. My friend says that he’ll probably vote for Hunter.

Fortunately my friend doesn’t care how the cool kids are voting.

Hunter is the kind of candidate I know I’ll never have to apologize for.

That's a great statement and I'll be using it when others try to get me to vote for the lesser of 2 evils. It would make a great tagline, too.

I guess for me it’s that solid, public record Duncan Hunter has. I’ve never seen better or more consistent, or more conservative. I’ve been waiting for that all my life. Even Reagan didn’t have the voting and policy consistency of Hunter when he first ran. And he’s not a coward. People underestimate how important that is. And he’s not impulsive. There is always thought behind his decisions and he explains why so anyone can understand it. Is he Ronald Reagan? No. He’s Duncan Hunter. I’m happy with that.

>>>Is he Ronald Reagan? No. He’s Duncan Hunter.

About a decade from now, Duncan Hunter will be the litmus test for Presidential credentials. For he has truly raised the bar of integrity.

Is it your mission in life to question everything I say?

One World Government, the goal of the globalists = Communism. Bush, like Fred Dalton Thompson, is a globalist.

The MSM, electronic and print is largely Communistic.

Heavy left=Communism in my book.

“About a decade from now, Duncan Hunter will be the litmus test for Presidential credentials.”

That’s exactly what I used to mean when I would post that Hunter would out-Reagan Reagan himself.

There's just no pleasing you, is there? I can guarantee you that - even if they had not been on Air Force One with Feinstein, who is a Senator - if Huckabee, Rudy, Romney, McCain, or Fred had met with Bush at the base, there would've been more mentions about it.

Now, now, Ultra Sonic 007. By his choice of 'conservative' candidates, I'd say he's very easily pleased.

By the way, CBS talked about the prez at the fires, with Diane F. No mention of Hunter.

My choice of candidate has nothing to do with the continuing FAILURE of Duncan's campaign to get him into the media spotlight.

You DuncanDelusionists©, have missed the point entirely.

By the looks of it, that's pretty easy to do.

One of the few things I was sorry about when I left my native CA in 2002 was losing the chance to vote for Tom. I always liked him.

Who would you vote for if you were not afraid that your candidate might not win?

Well hell, I should have written in Reagan...
