The U.S. dollar might be destined to disappear, replaced by a regional currency called the amero, reports the Tokyo correspondent for the Singapore Business Times today.
"Truth is said to be stranger than fiction sometimes, and what I hear about the future of the U.S. dollar may sound like pure fiction, but the sources from whence the reports spring are, as they say, 'usually reliable' ones, and so they do have a ring of truth to them," writes Anthony Rowley.
Rowley says the slide of the U.S. dollar in relation to other foreign currencies makes such a transition more likely.
"And, looking at the size of U.S. debt to all those foreign central banks and private investors who obligingly finance the American current account deficit, similar conclusions might be drawn," he writes.

The MSM is not talking about it, therefore it is not true. WND is a nutty right wing website.
Don't believe anything in the story. I'm going back to downing a few beers and watch ESPN. Please don't disturb me! The Great Pres. GW Bush will NEVER sell us out!
At what point do they bcome reliable? When they have a column in WND?
Hang on to your shorts. This is closer than we think. Most likely less than a year away. Our government has purposely put us in debt to accomplish this.
“The commentary follows what appeared to be confirmation of the common North American currency plan by former Mexican President Vicente Fox, who told CNN’s Larry King this week that he and President Bush had agreed on a regional currency for the Americas.”
Now, Jorge plainly told us at the recent meeting in Canada that he couldn’t believe the rumors he was hearing compared to the innocent little chats he’d been having with El Presidente of Mexico and the Prime Minister of Canada. Somebody speaks with forked tongue.
Ex El Presidente Fox must be POed at Jorge for some reason, calling him “the cockiest guy I’ve ever met” and “a windshield cowboy”. And he sure is throwing out some tidbits from those innocent little chit chats that could be put his old amigo Jorge on the spot.
The reason might be he is selling his new book.
Regards
I’m sorry. This is WND, only slightly more reliable than oh, say, Weekly World News’ reports of BATBOY and ELVIS.
“Im sorry. This is WND, only slightly more reliable than oh, say, Weekly World News reports of BATBOY and ELVIS.”
The words of ex-President Fox came from the lips of ex-President Fox on the Larry King show. Video and transcript has been on the interview for all to see.
And, are you saying that the quotes from the “Singapore Business Times” in the WND article are fabricated??
“The reason might be he is selling his new book.”
Er, “See you at the bill signing.”
And you have to admit that “windshield cowboy” is a pretty good term. Or maybe you have evidence that Jorge actually spends time at Crawford busting broncos and riding a spirited stallion around the ranch rather than in a pickup.
Need I remind you that just about eighteen months ago the Texas superhighway corridor was also claimed to be false?
I believe the report of a future AU currency to be true. It may be a bit premature to suggest it will be here in a year or so, but when the FTAA is in full swing, and it definately will be, our currency will be abandoned like a rat with the plague.
Our sovereignty is on the block. That’s just the cold hard truth of it. To my way of thinking, it’s a good time to come out against that loss of sovereignty rather than remain convinced it can’t happen until it already has.
There are those that wouldn’t believe it no matter who stated it. And there are those that don’t want you or anyone else to belive it. This is what happened in Europe, now they have the EU. The NAU is next which will force the AU (Asian Union). The Middle East already has UAE. It may not stay exactly the same but it has started.
I was told about this in the early 60’s by one of my professors, before they all became liberals. What he didn’t count on was the age of the computer, which has moved things along much faster.
I would like to see one candidate for President that will stand up and say that he is for the United States and our Constitution. One thing that is extremely important here. If the NAU is in fact.....a fact, they will have to get rid of our Constitution or let the courts continue to decide what is good for us.
Long before Vicente, Laura Bush called her husband a windshield cowboy. On CNN.
“Long before Vicente, Laura Bush called her husband a windshield cowboy. On CNN.”
Irrelevant to the discussion: does the shoe fit? Vicente made that remark along with other not so complementary remarks. And Vicente wasn’t the first one to think W was cocky. He made a series of remarks that many thought too cocky. “Bring it on.” “Wanted dead or alive.” “See you at the bill signing.” Examples.
The Center for Transportation Research recommended that Texas adopt multi-modal corridors in 1996.
The concept drawing of the TTC system appeared on the TxDot website in 2002.
The TTC was first mentioned on a FR thread in 2003.
I hate to tell you this, but 99.99% of cowboys are of the windshield variety.
Say what you will, I have heard radio talk show hosts talk down the realty of the Texas Corridor as late as last year. And it was a person that should have known better.
“The Center for Transportation Research recommended that Texas adopt multi-modal corridors in 1996.”
Yep, following right up after NAFTA passage in late 1993.
“I hate to tell you this, but 99.99% of cowboys are of the windshield variety.”
How much money would you bet on that 99.99%? So, there are practically no horse riders in Texas?
Might you be dealing in just a little bit of hyperbole there while defending Jorge?
Actually, CTR was given the job in the late 1980s. They published a total of 3 reports, the last in 1996.
