A Naval veteran who co-founded the group "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" says he will do whatever he can to help Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-California) become the next president of the United States.

The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth became a household name during the last presidential campaign when it accused Democratic candidate John Kerry of being dishonest about his service in Vietnam. Many political pundits believe the Swift Boat vets helped defeat Kerry.
John O'Neill, a co-founder and member of the group, says in 2008 he is campaigning for another Vietnam veteran who is running for the Oval Office -- Representative Duncan Hunter.
"He is a Vietnam veteran who I can really be proud of," says O'Neill. "I'm really happy to be able to be for someone instead of just being against someone. I'm going to do everything I can to try and help him out." And so are many of the people in the Swift Boat Veterans group, he adds, clarifying that they are doing so as individuals and not on behalf of the group.
O'Neill says he recognizes that the California lawmaker is a long shot, but so were the Swift Boat vets when they organized to stop Kerry in 2004. "[T]he long-shot causes are always the causes most worth fighting for," he says. "That's what I believe in -- so I think he has a chance; and that's who I'm for."
Oh good grief....gawd forbid anyone should get the impression that this story is about more than ONE person supporting Hunter and one less supporting Fred. 10 lashes for your mistake, lol.

Nice statement. I never donated to Bush’s campaign in 2004 but I did make several donations to the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth. Best political money I ever spent.
I think this debate may be another really good chance for Duncan Hunter to get his message out. He was just interviewed on MSNBC and I thought he did an especially good job this time. He made the point that his message should resonate very well in Michigan and I think he has a really good point there. Hopefully, a debate focussed on Michigan’s economy will give him the chance to really set himself apart and get his campaign into high gear.
I suppose all of the folks who keep saying Duncan Hunter who? will now need to start saying “Who are the Swift Boat Vets? .... just to keep consistent...

If Duncan Hunter can get better known in Texas, especially with John O’Neill’s help, he’ll sweep Texas! I’d really like to see Hunter take off towards the head of the pack. There’s time.

Wrong! That was what disenfranchised the GOP’s Conservative base, and Fred was for the RNC discarding its Contract With America, passing McCain-Feingold and voted to give China Most Favored Nation. Some kind of a conservative, huh?
