Just when you thought you had heard everything related to abuse of eminent domain.

TOPICS: Government; Local News; Politics; Society
KEYWORDS: abuse; eminentdomain; gtc; propertyrights
Fox Cable News Network aired Ms. Worley's story today live from the Barrow County Sheriff's office. The story has also been carried locally by WSBTV Channel 2 video: http://www.wsbtv.com/video/14162266/index.html and online: http://www.wsbtv.com/news/14161104/detail.html . Ms. Worley has been a guest on the Martha Zoller show on WDUN radio this week as well.

This media attention is a result of the press release that was sent out to several media outlets this week: http://www.hopeofgeorgia.com/press_releases/press_release_092007.htm .

HOPE is working now to make further changes to eminent domain law and needs Georgia citizens help! HOPE of Georgia needs people contacting the Governor and their representatives in the legislature. HOPE does not want to stop construction, we just want to make sure people are treated fair and their rights are not violated by the power industry in this state. Please don't wait for them to show up asking for your property before you get involved!

To: Kevmo; All

Anybody remember the story of the little old lady who refused to sell her house in I wanna say NY to the developers of some big skyscraper so they just built the building around her tiny little lot??? Mind you this was back in the 80’s and the city could be completely wrong. If anybody remembers, please post her name. Thanks.

There was a prior posting about this, however, this story is an up date and all charges against the lady have been dropped, hopefully she wins a fortune and the POS deputy spends the rest of his life hauling garbage can's. However, you would probably need to print emptying directions on the bottoms of the cans.

Here’s a start. I think it has happened more than once, judging from this article alone.

Well, at least the one they are talking about here is a utilities power line right of way.

A little bit more in line with Eminent Domain than a few parcels of land ( peoples homes) for a developer who donates money to the local government.
