I only needed to see one of your posts to see “cop hater”.
I have zero interest in anything else you have to say.

well then you are contradicting yourself. your original post to me indicated your interest in how many times i had used that phrase (you bet i used it a lot). now, you only care about my one and only usage. way to be consistent.

this kid knew what he was doing and that he would be stopped because he made himself suspicious. and then he stonewalled a cop who approached him. he did not just give him his ID. he acted stupid by saying (paraphrasing), "why are you stopping ME officer? have i done something wrong?" idiot punk. he knew he would be stopped and then antagonized the officer. but i guess i'll have to say it again, the officer went too far.

I caught a couple of other articles on this, and the kid says he was supposed to meet a friend there to give him back an iPod that was left in his car. I agree the kid didn't have the best attitude toward the cop.

If his account of having been assaulted by a drunken off-duty police officer and then watching the system cover it up is accurate, and right now I don't see any evidence to contract it, I can understand how someone (especially a young person) would be left with a feeling of mistrust.

I understand that there's some bad apples out there, and they make it hard on the good ones. Sometimes that manifests itself in the form of having to deal with the people they've pissed off. I don't think the proper resonse in that situation is to try and break them of it by adding to it.

IMHO

you're absolutely right. and good cops should WELCOME video to a certain extent.

my point with this kid is that he makes a game out of it and uses a police scanner to go to places he knows he will get stopped so he can wise-off to cops. but, in his mind, the cops made him what he is. we have agitator's too. i just smile and nod and go about doing my job. i'm hoping to see myself on youtube one day.

I saw the video. All he had of the officer was audio. He said he mounted the camera after he got a speeding ticket he thought he didn’t deserve, and the camera was mounted pointed at the instrument cluster on his dash, not at the window.

Well, if that is in fact what he’s doing, it worked in this case. I view him the same as any other advocate, like those online stings to catch child predators.

Smiling and nodding and doing a professional job is what you should do.

Where did you read that he uses a scanner to troll cops? All that has been said is that this is not the first bozo with a badge that he has caught on tape.

in my experience, it doesn't pay to "trump up" charges. too many checks along the way.

Yeah, where there is evidence, cameras, witnesses, paper trails etc...However, in many incidents, it's only the LEOs word against the suspects, and all rides on who appears more credible in court. It's easy to "embellish" events or incidents, for both the suspects, and LEOs.

it’s on his website and you can clearly hear the scanner in the audio at the beginning of the tape as he pulls into the lot. he knew the crime problems at that lot and he knew a cop was there. sure did go out of his way to make that cute little video, didn’t he?

Okay, you've got some agitators. Now tell me some of the assholes they've had to deal with don't have anything to do with them being that way.

He wired his car after “cops word vs civilian word” incident where he lost in court.
- This is not the first one he has taped and put on You Tube
- There were anonymous suggestions that he be harassed by law enforcement posted to a STL cop blog

I don’t blame him for recording his interactions with the cops, especially now that he has been marked.

I record my interactions with them too. Its just common sense given the behavior of a few rotten apples that besmirch the reputation of the rest of the LEOs who stay within the law and respect those that assert their rights.

easy there killer! most of them are hired by left-wing nutjobs. we had a guy, "the preacher", who was screaming and yelling at a bicycle rally not too long ago. cops were ordered to take him into custody.

as soon as he gets into the police van and gets out of sight of the protesters, he says he's getting to old for this kind of stuff and he's ready for the next generation of hired guns to take over. he said he just wanted to spend time with his kids. but then he said he was hired to go to newfoundland to protest something or other.

he's all over youtube. but usually the agitator's are white liberals who have never been arrested who simply get off on telling cops how to do their job. but as soon as they are confronted by a 300 pound ex-con who demands their money, they are all too quick to call 911. god forbid they get a gun and defend themselves. oh wait, rudy took away all the legal guns in NYC.

Actually, he isn't marked as you say.

People that have gone after cops, or those that had incidents with LE and won, are usually treated like the plague, and avoided by those in law enforcement. Remember Rodney King? After that fiasco LE went out of their way to avoid that guy. Same with OJ until recently, when he did something so stupid, which was recorded, with witnesses etc, he left himself wide open.

Every town has people in it, that are just looking to go after those in law enforcement, and most of these people are well known, and for the most part, avoided if at all possibly by those in law enforcement.

Any cop that would intentionally go after video boy in this article, is looking at some serious trouble.

In Abington, Massachusetts a few years ago a fellow was pulled over by that local Police Department.

The man was berated, insulted, and threatened by the Police Officer.

Later, the driver, brought to the Abington Chief of Police a recording he had made of the incident.

The driver with the tape proving the harassment was arrested and brought to trial for illegally taping a Police Officer w/out consent.

The cops won, and you would have to be better than me to find this case on the Internet. I looked before I posted here, and I could not find it.

I was appalled at the time at the final disposition of the case. I have never lived in Abington, Massachusetts and I do everything that I can to avoid that cheesy Town.

The point is, having to deal with the assholes can give you a bad attitude about all of them, and it goes both ways. I’ll be the first to admit that it isn’t fair, but that’s the way it is.

"Lots of people on FR say that if a person is not doing anything illegal then they don’t have anything to worry about."

Best retort of the day, maybe of the week.

Everything considered, the Sgt. asked to be fired because he threatened charges he knew would be false.

That alone should be grounds for dismissal.

I hope we do not hear of the young driver being victim of a random act of violence .Some people blame others for their own acts, especially if it results in loss of employment.

You bet. That was the end of story. He was clearly trying to throw his weight around, taking all kinds of crap, thinking this was just some goofy young dummy. To bad for him the goofy young dummy was wired for audio/video
