Reporter calls for Joint Chief to overthrow President Bush
Qando, Online Magazine ^ | Aug. 25,.2007 | Dale Franks

Posted on 08/26/2007 8:55:43 AM PDT by Seabee133

Well, we've all known—since 2000, really—that a lot of people don't like George W. Bush. And we've all known that a lot of people on the Left fundamentally doubt the president's competence and legitimacy.

But this goes far beyond that. This is a seriously written bit of complete insanity. And worse.

It's from Martin Lewis at the Huffington Post, whoever he is. In this post, he writes an open letter to General peter Pace, the CJCS, urging him to—get ready for it—"relieve the president of command". Though you are Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the President's principal military advisor - President Bush has shown his disdain for your honesty and wisdom. Though you are a decorated Vietnam war hero - who has served his nation honorably for four decades - the President is dispensing with your services. You have one month left in your position before you are tossed out by the President.

President Bush is going to ignore your advice. Just as he has ignored the advice of other Generals who have had the courage to respectfully point out how terribly wrong he is in respect of the Iraq War and the safety of the US military he is sworn to protect. Highly-decorated colleagues of yours such as General Anthony Zinni (Commander in Chief of U.S. Central Command), General Eric Shinseki (Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army) and General John Abizaid (Commander of the U.S. Central Command).General Pace - you have the power to fulfill your responsibility to protect the troops under your command. Indeed you have an obligation to do so. Not of his Presidency. But of his military role as Commander-In-Chief.

Wow, well, the whacko, moonbat, libtarded ones sink to new levels. Just when you think it is safe to back in the water they bring back the shark of stupidity and you are confined to the beach once again. I could get into the semantics about prosecution of a civilian authority under the UCMJ, how this would leave the military as the defacto leaders, yadda yadda yadda. This is more about how stupid and insane some people on the left can be rather than the relevancy of the article.

Should we be surprised by this? Really Bush Derangement Syndrome has taken the Left on hold for years. And now they have a problem. The Surge is working. Oops another miscalculation. Wait to hear how it was Karl Rove’s plot to derail the Dems. Thats coming next.

Actually, conservative Thomas Sowell said a military overthrow might be the only thing that will save us.

I thought Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis were dead.

“Hey ladyyyyyyyy”

Another political opinion by a bunch of comedians. Typical of the left.

As if the vast left wing conspriacy was ever really funny.

Huffing(spraypaint)ton post, that should say it all.

Last time I checked sedition is a very serious crime and can be punishable by death during times of war. I think we have found a good candidate to dust off those law books.

This guy is eompletely unhinged.

Give us a link so that we can read Sowell’s comments in context.

Wonder what this guy said when a perfectly constitution thing took place? The impeachment of Bill Clinton. I’m betting it was a bunch of tripe about lying about sex.

Martin Lewis, the author of the HuffPo piece, is not a reporter. He’s in showbiz. According to his Web site, he’s a humorist. And he’s English. He’s been in the U.S. since the 80s, but apparently never bothered to become a U.S. citizen.

I guess he’s figured out that there will be no impeachment so he turns to the next best thing. Idiot.

Our education system, our media, and our intelligentsia have all been unrelentingly undermining the values, the traditions, and the unity of this country for generations and, at the same time, portraying as “understandable” all kinds of deviance, from prostitution to drugs to riots.

And here’s the yearning for the coup:

When I see the worsening degeneracy in our politicians, our media, our educators, and our intelligentsia, I can’t help wondering if the day may yet come when the only thing that can save this country is a military coup.

Well that explains his stupidity and ignorance of the application of the UCMJ to civilians. I hardly think that this article was meant to be funny. Dennis Miller is a comedian and his political views are taken fairly seriously. If this article was written with any idea of humor or sarcasm in mind it should have been noted. Otherwise it will be taken seriously which is what I think it was meant for.

Martin Lewis is just blowing hot air. He knows that the military votes Republican by about an 80% margin.

Thomas Sowell was pontificating about a generic president and the direction of some of the ruling by out of control courts that are obviously unconstitutional. I don’t believe he was serious.

“When I see the worsening degeneracy in our politicians, our media, our educators, and our intelligentsia, I can’t help wondering if the day may yet come when the only thing that can save this country is a military coup.” — Thomas Sowell

I might add, there is a difference in calling for an overthrow and wondering if it is the only thing that can stop this downward spiral. Mr. Sowell better choose his words more carefully in the future but he, in his defense, is not calling for an all out coup. So I think this is like comparing me to Michael Vick. I didn't feed my dog so therefore Michael Vick and I should both be prosecuted to fullest extent of the law.

I can’t believe he meant it either. A military coup opens a Pandora’s box.
