Congressman Hunter Statement on Evolution:
DHgrassrevolt ^ | 7/31/07 | Duncan Hunter

Posted on 08/01/2007 12:29:03 PM PDT by pissant

Tuesday, July 31, 2007 Congressman Hunter Statement on Evolution:

The Declaration of Independence begins with these simple words, “We hold these truths to be self-evident.” Self-evident. Patently obvious. Completely clear. It is self-evident that “all men are created equal.” Not equal by government edict or by an act of a king or monarch. We are not equal by virtue of any particular article of the Constitution – we are created equal.

The Declaration continues…. “and that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights.” This is a vital component of what makes us a free society. We are raised from childhood in this country to accept the concept of human rights. That we as Americans are a free people. Included in those freedoms are freedom of speech, of the press… and freedom of religion. But, we often fail to teach our children why we are secure in those rights or should be. Why, as an American, you should expect the freedom to live your life as you see fit with a minimal of government interference. Why you should expect to be able to worship in the church of your choice without fear. What gives us the confidence that this is our heritage, our birth-right as Americans?

Freedom only works if we acknowledge what is so clearly set forth in the Declaration of Independence… that our rights come from the hand of Almighty God. If government gives you your rights… then government can just as easily take those rights away. Democracy easily turns to mob rule without the fundamental understanding that government of the people, by the people and for the people only works if an individual’s rights are unalienable … only if we, each, have a fundamental worth and dignity as a human being. And, that fundamental, unalienable worth only has validity if one acknowledges the true source of that worth and dignity…God.

When Chris Matthews asked one of my fellow candidates if he believed in evolution, the question was designed to embarrass my fellow Republicans. Whether or not, at some level, created beings adapt to their surroundings, or change to some degree over generations is not the right understanding of that question. The real question is this: Does God exist and did he create us? The liberties of every American citizen, including those of Chris Matthews, hang in the balance if we get the answer to that question wrong.

If you are as conservative as you claim, ACT like it. Support a CONSERVATIVE - Duncan Hunter - so he will be the nominee. Giving up is for weenies.

You need to do some research if you think Hunter had a lackluster performance. People, like you who don’t research really don’t deserve to vote. All you do is pull levers.

Who are YOU supporting and why? I bet you don’t know.

On Hunter’s watch, we’ve actually deployed missile defense.

AND DUNCAN HUNTER IS............
1) STRONGLY pro-life - a 26 year pro-life history NO FLIP FLOP HERE;

2) the only politican that was EFFECTIVE on building a fence at a strategic place on our borders (which made crime go down tremendously in San Diego), and author of the bill to build an 854 mile fence which was signed into law;

3) knows his defense: AMONG OTHER THINGS was Chairman of the Armed Services Committee when the Republicans had the majority, fought hard for the missle defense shield, and personally, won a medal in Viet Nam & his son did two tours in Iraq, including Fallujah, and will do a 3rd tour in Afghanistan (so he has a lot a stake);

4) understands the Red China threat and China’s trade imbalance through cheating;

5) voted for traditional marriage between a man and a woman through HJ Res 88

6) A+ rating from the National Rifle Association;

7) 100% rating from the Eagle Forum.

(8) 92% rating from the American Conservative Union;

(9)100% from the Concerned Women for America;

(10) 100% from the Christian Coalition;

(11) 100% from the Campaign for Working Families.

Wives of candidates have been a prolific subject for discussion.

It seems fair to compare who’s in it to win it.

I’m pretty certain Ann Romney and Jeri Thompson are.

It matters not. You know Paul is unelectable, and you also know Hunter is very electable. You are counting chickens in July. Not wise.

“Why do you call me a lib?”

To quote a great person (pissant), here’s more on Duncan Hunter’s performance:

“Good frickin grief. No one has done more for the military and wounded vets. No one is more staunchly pro-life -introducing a bill year after year to give the unborn 14th amendment protection. No one is more pro gun. Hunter damn near succeded in shitcanning the AWB in 1994. No one is more pro tax cuts than Hunter. He has pushed many, including elimination of the death tax and his newest- to bring taxes on exports to ZERO. Hunter has been THE #1 driver of missile defense systems since Reagan retired. No one has beat the hell out of the EPA and the ACLU like Hunter has over the last two decades.
Consider this: Hunter was the ONLY one to call for Dingy Harry’s resignation for his “we lost” comments. He was the only one to go to the national media and slap down Nancy Pelosi’s idiotic idea of a “15 day waiting period” for rotating troops into battle. He was the ONLY one to rush headfirst into defending Gen Peter Pace’s “homosexuality is incompatable” with the military comments that the MSM and dems were screaming about - he wrote a big piece in the USA Today standing by those comments. He is the only one I’m aware of that wants to get rid of DADT and go back to a total ban on gays in the military. He is the only one other than McCain to volunteer for combat duty in Vietnam - real combat duty. He is the man that Reagan sent to Europe to bring them on board with SDI-—and he suceeded (exceedingly controversial at the time). He and Sensenbrenner were the only two that fought to keep the congress and Bush admin from folding to the 911 committee report - they singlehandedly prevented the military spooks from being put under a non military chain of command.
There is only one reason that Gitmo is still open- his name is Duncan Hunter. There is a primary reason that BP agents Ramos and Compean cases have kept a high profile - Duncan Hunter. There is only one reason we have enough miltary transport hauling capability- Duncan Hunter. There is only one guy who went after CNN to get them tossed out of Iraq for airing enemy propaganda - Duncan Hunter. There was only one reason that Rumsfeld was not able to proceed on reductions in the size of the Army - Duncan Hunter. There is only one reason that Bush finally agreed to INCREASE the size of the Army and Marine Corps - Duncan Hunter. There is only one reason that the NAFTA wet dream of Mexican trucks all over our highways is being halted - Duncan Hunter. And there is only one man that scares the shiite out of the commie bastards in China and the mullahs in Iran - Duncan Hunter. There is on man who b*tch slapped the ACLU and saved the Mount Soledad Cross - Duncan Hunter. And there was only one politicain to speak at the Eagle Forum sponsored anti-NAU summit last week- Duncan Hunter. And ONLY one guy who reversed the Military’s PC policy of not allowing prayers that mention Jesus Christ - you guessed it.
And he is the ONLY that is deadly serious about not giving up a shred of sovereignty to international and supra national bodies.
Not bad for just a borders guy.”

I think you’re not quite confident of Lynne Hunter’s performance, either, so you choose to deflect your discomfort upon those who would point it out.

Your side insists this is the time to vet all candidates. (Except yours, apparently)

One of the wives will be our nation’s First Lady.
As a wife and mother, I take that role very seriously and look intently upon the women behind the men in this race.

That is entirely fair.

You go ahead and vote for the spouses - I’ll vote for the candidate.

So since you’re voting for spouses, I guess you’ll be voting for Bill. (OK, just a little levity; it’s late.)

How bout this. Married 30+ years with two fine sons, and a DIL trying to run a campaign for one of them in abstentia with three little kids AND a husband running for Potus. She sounds like the woman of the year to me.

LAURA INGRAHAM: I love Duncan Hunter.

RUSH LIMBAUGH: I like Duncan. I have great admiration for Duncan Hunter.

AND when I was listening to Mark Levin:

Mark said it’s an HONOR to introduce Duncan Hunter.

Mark said that of all the people who were in these debates, Duncan Hunter outperformed the media’s expectations - is charismatic and solid as a rock on the issues.

I'll put together all the audio from clips like those you quote...I'd call that an ENDORSEMENT of the man's character & unless your BJ Clinton ("character doesn't matter") it will go to the heart of the issue at hand.

Some are born to lead, others need consultants and $400 haircuts!
