The US Department of Elections has released the Selected Presidential Reports for the 2007 July Quarterly, and there are a few surprises. No surprise, of course, is that people in the armed services and veterans overwhelmingly support the Republican Party. However, after digging through individual candidates contributions by employers, we find an elating (or disturbing, if youre rooting for Rudy McRomney) trend. The breakdown? Here you go.

Some folks prefer a poke in the eye with a sharp stick to McCain.

Where does the ‘blog’ that this links to get these numbers.. the FEC website that it links to has each candidate’s contributions broken down and none of the numbers I can find match what the blog claims.

Looking at the data it appears the military contributors favor Rep. Paul over
every other Republican candidate (in the case of Rudy 10 times more). Why would they do this? I've been told that anybody that supports Ron Paul hates America, apple pie, the troops, etc. If we follow that logic, some of the troops 'hate the troops'
Great news bump

Try searching
by employer. The data was pulled from the employer tables.

Never mind, found it under employers.. however, this only lists those who specifically put down ‘US Air Force’ (for example) and completely ignores the line ‘US Government’ as an employer which is the standard default line I’ve seen most military personnel use.
I suggest anyone compare what the blog says to the actual report and you'll see it doesn't include a lot. For example, with Duncan Hunter the blog lists the line labeled US Air Force but doesn't add the line labeled USAF.
Or on McCain for example, it ignores most of the lines:
U.S. AIR FORCE 475.00
U.S. AIR FORCE RESERVES 200.00
U.S. ARMY 5,525.00
U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS 350.00
U.S. ARMY CORPS. OF ENGINEERS 250.00
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE 650.00
U.S. GOVERNMENT 4,170.00
U.S. NAVY 4,425.00
Because this also only lists what people put down, it doesn't properly reflect reservists.
Note, for the record, I don't support McCain or Paul, just pointing out not to always trust 'blogs'.

Bah, it looks like we’ll have to wait for a mainstream source to pickup on this story before it will merit the news forum.

The data looks skewed. Sniff. Sniff. Something does not smell right. My truth detector alarm went off. Gotta go now. My dog ran under the bed scared to death.

Since there are non-classified contributions in the summaries, they aren’t particularly useful in determining who is making donations.
