Jim Geraghty over at NRO brings up some more questions regarding the recent L.A. Times hit piece on Fred.
Also, a sharp mind in Washington tells me, "if the abortion group isn't willing to produce the invoices they paid the law firm (which will have every [bad word]ing lawyer's name on the bill), they should go to hell."Finally, in the comments on Captain's site, a commenter notes this detail:
But Judith DeSarno, who was president of the family planning association in 1991, said Thompson lobbied for the group for several months.
At one of the meals, she recalled, Thompson re-enacted a cowboy death scene from one of his movies. She also remembered him telling her that Sununu had just given him tickets for a VIP tour.
The commenter points out that Thompson had not acted in a Western at that point, and had not until this year's "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee."
Here's where it gets really interesting: The "cowboy death scene" comments, once prominent in the story (DeSarno is referred to by full name and role within the organization, indicating this is the first reference to her), have now been removed from the Los Angeles Times article. The new version:
Thompson kept her updated on his progress in telephone conversations and over meals at Washington restaurants, including dinner at Galileo and lunch at the Monocle, she said. At one of the meals, she recalled, Thompson told her that Sununu had just given him tickets for a VIP tour of the White House for a Thompson son and his wife.
Problem is, bloggers already quoted the old version.
Why did the L.A. Times take that comment out of the story? And why no mention of the edit/correction/retraction?
How funny is that? I wonder where it went? Looks like the L.A. Times lost faith in that part of their slime story. Makes you wonder about the rest of it...
As I’ve said before, the Democrats and their allies in the media fear Fred Thompson’s candidacy more than that of any other Republican.
I’ve got a new theory. I now think the socialist left in this country is a variety of Islam. This is an example of leftist takiyya, the precept that it’s OK, and in fact required, to tell any lie you can to further the goals of the left. They also practice a variety of dhimmitude, where non-leftists are tolerated so long as they continue to pay taxes to support leftist social programs and refrain from making nuisances of themselves by bring up inconvenient facts.
FAKE NEWS
However, it was VERY shameful and discouraging to see how many Freepers were willing to take the word of msm scum & pro-abort ghouls over a good man like Fred with a proven pro-life record.
I can only hope that it was just a bunch of rat trolls -- and not true Freepers -- that were running with the story.
I wish it was a rat troll. Unfortunately one of the main ones was pissant, who is in contact with Duncan Hunter’s campaign and organizing a virtual question and answer session. As in campaign volunteer representing Duncan Hunter and also making every effort to smear FDT. Any chance of an apology from pissant?
Hey genius, I said multiple times that the LA Times story could be nonsense, even in the thread I posted. GO back and look.
So quit projecting.
“If the Times is pulling this out of their arse, Fred should sue them for libel. Seriously.”

“It would not suprise me if they are lying, in the least. Especially the LA Times.”

The point that I made was that the story was not true, but you are the one who decided to post it.
I have a problem with the idea of posting something like this, most especially if you weren’t sure whether it was true or not.
A man’s reputation is something that takes a lifetime to build, and an insinuation or halftruth or a lie can tear it down in a few minutes. You did a lot of damage. Put doubts in people’s minds over something that is not true.
I read all your posts multiple times and understood them. It speaks volumes about your character that you would be willing to tear Fred down over a hit piece like this.
No apology, that is understood as well.
You may have read my posts, but apparetnly you did not understand them. As for tearing down by posting such (with a huge dose of skepticism, mind you), how to explain the other 5 threads on the same subject by fredheads. Because, despite my very obvious skepticism, I’m not a Fred cheerleader? Well guess what. I don’t want Fred to win the nomination. But he’d be a fine VP.
I have a problem with the idea of posting something like this, most especially if you werent sure whether it was true or not.
Au contraire, these articles must be posted, that way we can expose these leftist liars for the "lying liars" that they are.
This information was posted on several other threads before the one that pissant posted. Might check post number 5 [not my post] which was what I was replying to.
If we keep doing this, we’ll be wasting time and resources, and I can think of better things to do with my time. Plus my comment about a person’s reputation. I don’t believe tearing someone down is an ethical or moral thing to do. Which is why I protest the multiple postings of things like this. There are better ways to spend my time.
