Marines, like insurgents, just want to "provide for their wives and kids"
July 3, 2007 | David Allender

Nicholas and Barney Broomfield (a father and son film-making team) have begun promoting their film, The Battle for Haditha. The film purports to "reenact" the incident in Haditha by showing deranged Marines slaughtering unarmed civilians in cold blood.

In an interview in Britian's The First Post, Barney Broomfield says this...

"Spending so much time so close to these guys [the Marine actors in the film] I realised it is much harder to blame the troops for some of the things that happen in war," Broomfield concludes. "It's much harder to point the finger when you know these are just young kids who are, usually for financial reasons, going out and fighting a rich man's war.

"In many ways, the marines are fighting for the same reasons as the people who have joined the insurgency in Iraq are fighting. Many of them were pushed onto the streets when the Iraqi army was disbanded, and they had no work or money.

"Just like the marines, they want to be able to provide for their wives and their kids. For most people, I came to understand, that is the reality of war."

This comes on the heels of a publicity campaign (in print and on the web) by actors in the film, many of whom once had the honor of being called Marines.

Ex-Marine Andrew McLaren, for instance, said: "We represented the Corps in a positive light....We would never sell out our fellow Marines for 15 minutes of fame."

Ex-Marine Elliot Ruiz said, "[The movie] means a lot to me. First of all, it's Marine Corps. I almost died for the Marine Corps. So everything I do, I want to be sure I represent the Marine Corps in the correct way."

All of the EX-Marines in this film whored themselves, and betrayed their brothers, just to be in a sleezy Leftist movie. If you run into them somewhere, you now know their story.

For those not paying attention, the first hearing in the Haditha Marine Article 32s concluded with the investigating officer reporting that there was no evidence of murder.

The Haditha Marines will be cleared in court, but never truly exonerated. The ex-Marines who helped make this movie are part of the reason why justice will never be done.

Who wrote this Rosie O'Donnell? With that kind of headline, it's just more Bravo Sierra. If I recall there are few Ex-Marines...Those clown definitely don't understand call of duty, honor, and doing the right things. We fight so our children do have to. Most Americans love their Children.

Muslims Insurgents, on the other hand, use children as shields and suicide bombers. That to a American is reprehensible. They do not love children as we do, they are a means to end.

Shame on them.
They’re not much better than Murtha in my eyes.

Red I caught that article this morning on my daily

Thanks for putting this together, Red.

This asshat Barney Broomfield is nothing more than a leftwing moonbat antiwar liberal with dollar signs in his eyes. He’s looking to make a buck off the blood of our Marines and other service men and women and the ex-Marines playing in the movie are not much better.

Nope, but it might have been.

The article, Black day in Haditha is by a Los Angeles film reviewer, Christopher Goodwin (who I dearly hope uses Google).

Accompanying the article are pictures by Barney Broomfield (who I also hope uses Google) that drive the film's point home: Marines acted as executioners in Haditha.

First Tim McGirk, then John Murtha, and now this.

The only thing the insurgents “provide” their wives and children is a belt laden with explosives.

EX-Marines

You are right. "Once a Marine, always a Marine" does not apply.

Hard to say who’s worse. The Congressman who says Marines are cold-blooded killers or the ex-Marines who act out Murtha’s fantasy in a movie.

May they all enjoy their thirty pieces of silver just as much as Judas enjoyed his.

You idiot.

They want to achieve martyrdom by slaughtering innocent people. Not once have I heard of a prospective Jihadi saying that he was doing this for the compensation, you moron. I'm sure a Jihadi appreciates it, though, when somebody like Saddam gives a suicide bomber widow(er) some money.

There's no difference between Murtha & McLaren.

Both are knowingly slandering these Marines and encouraging the enemy to attack while we are in a weakened state in return for financial security and fame. Both portray themselves as patriots, yet run off to powder their noses when confronted with their treachery. Neither will admit what they are, and take great efforts to disguise their intent.

Bloomingidiot is actually more forthright about his intentions, even though they are misguided and despicable. He is the loony left, and he's getting paid $Millions to make a hit piece on American Marines by a British TV station.

There is no mistaking what kind of movie this is. Every single quote of his portrays a sympathy for the terrorists and contempt for the US.

The cast knows this, and they know what harm it can bring.

They simply don't care.

Since the filmmakers have such compassion for impoverished Marines, maybe they’ll put a hundred thousand to the defense fund.

That’d go maybe a tenth of the way to paying the lawyer bills of the seven Marines if this travesty goes to court martials.

“...these are just young kids who are, usually for financial reasons, going out and fighting a rich man’s war...”

Ya, well, some didn’t join for the $. My Marine didn’t.

From Camp Pendleton, Nov 13, 2004:

“Oh yeah, well it’s kinda like this... I was supposed to leave like, 2 or 3 weeks ago, but oddly enough my battallion forgot to buy a plane ride to Iraq.... or anywhere else for that matter (yes, for some odd reason they wanted to put us on a civilian flight with M16A2’s and A4’s in a Tupperware container...brilliant).

We were invited to the ball [Ed: the Marine Corps Ball], but considering the 9 of us from Charlie company were supposed to be in the sandbox months ago with the rest of our boys, we declined. Meanwhile, the guys in Fallujah are kicking ass and taking names, leveling the place with 3-round bursts and AT4’s.... While all we can do is watch CNN and wonder how much more the Marine Corps can ram up our asses.... I mean, what could be a better birthday present than getting turn loose with a crap load of ammunition and an entire town?

There’s still the possiblility that I will get sent by myself to one of C co’s other platoons, since that’s what my paperwork says, but the NCO’s with me now don’t intend to send me on my own to a new platoon that’s been there 3 months already, even if it is a quieter part of the country.

It’s funny, I signed up to be one of the First to Fight, to go to a place like Fallujah... here I am in california where nobody wants anything to do with the 9 of us stragglers, continually getting reamed while my buddies in the guard come and go to the sandbox.

I joined to shoot things and blow them up, not PT 4 or 5 times a week with 3 different companies because nobody really knows why the 9 of us are still here or who we belong to.
By the time this whole adventure is over, I’ll have more amazing stories about this place than Iraq; 1st CEB, otherwise known as the Career Ending Batallion.

Anyways, if I EVER make it across the atlantic in time to get a combat action ribbon or something, I’ll be in touch with you guys. Til then, keep me in your prayers, because I don’t think my ass can stretch any wider... it hurts... and they don’t use lube... ow..... “

Anyway, who is this filmmaker guy, and why does he feel qualified to wade in on what happened at Haditha? I could see it if it was his son who got popped. Otherwise, who needs his opinion? I don’t get the feeling he’s objective; why the surprise at Marines being regular guys?
