MEXICANS ARE GOOD PEOPLE
Catholic Messages USA ^ | June. '07 | Vincent Bemowski

Posted on 06/04/2007 1:44:00 AM PDT by servant675

It is very important to remember that unlike Black Americans, bigotry against Mexican Americans is still not being fully addressed.

Amnesty should continue to be part of our approach when attempting to solve our immigration problems with Mexico. The contributions hard-working Mexican Americans make to our society easily wipe out any so-called "free benefits" legal or non-legal immigrants may obtain through local, state, and federal programs.

Unlike some other Americans, many Mexican Americans are good people who possess a deep faith in Almighty God. Therefore they deserve to be treated with compassion & respect. In addition, we should double or triple the number of immigrants allowed on an annual basis with our friends from Mexico.

We must not forget that it is only with great difficulty & through hard work at low-paying jobs few other Americans want that many Mexicans eventually become citizens of the United States. It truly a blessing that so many Mexicans seek the opportunities the USA offers, & we should be honored to receive them in greater numbers into our country.

Horsepucky. The issue isn't whether Mexicans are "good" or "bad": the issue is whether we want our country to be overwhelmed by an alien langauge, culture and value system. We have significant parts of our country that have become a completely different nation and those parts are staying that way, not becoming American.

Right On! The author of this article is trying to get people emotive and acquiesce to a situation which will ultimately destroy us.

Assimilation can not happen too fast for me.

If they're not trying to assimilate now when they're here illegally, what makes you think they'll do it after the gov't gives their lawbreaking a pass?

An almost completely ignored part of this whole debacle.

MEXICANS ARE GOOD PEOPLE

Tell that to the LAPD.
I'm sure they can regale you with plenty of counter-examples.

Mexicans are like any group of humans; they fall along the spectrum
from sinners to saints.

Trying to hastily arrange halos over the heads of the Mexicans that
entered the country illegally is a transparent attempt to short-circuit
a sane approach to the current invasion of the USA.
Securing the borders first.
Have the illegals go home...or at the least put them at the end of
the line of legal applicants for legitimate presence in the USA.

The author seems a bit confused. The title proclaims that Mexicans are good people, but the article itself doesn’t talk about Mexicans. Instead, the writer talks about Americans of Mexican decent. The only way to explain this, other than ignorance, is to assume that the author feels that those of Mexican decent cannot ever become truly American; a bigoted statement on the author’s part, to be sure, but not uncommon within the Democrat Party.

First generation will stay loyal no matter what, even second in this case because they are so close to home. We have to cut off the flow now or we might as well forget it.

I would definitely support an amendment to further decrease the numbers allowed if we get it past the lobbyists. It would be even better if the number went to zero at some point but I'm sure that's just a fantasy.

It they whole thing might go over better if people got some kind of guarantee of the full fence..like if it's not built to our liking the numbers allowed will decrease for every year it's not done.

“Unlike some other Americans, many Mexican Americans are good people who possess a deep faith in Almighty God. Therefore they deserve to be treated with compassion & respect.”

So are at least 75% of Anglo-Americans.

Churches who lobby on purely political issues should be taxed like ANY other PAC.

Because I've seen the young ones getting their "indoctrination" in our schools like the rest of our poor children. Despite all the liberal baloney they get they are still expected to follow in line and obey the rules. And they speak excellent English, unlike their parents.

Nobody says Mexicans aren’t good people.

Illegal Aliens regardless of race are lawbreakers. Good or not they entered this country illegally and should be returned to their country of origin.

Mexican
Iraqi
French
Canadian
or English.

Go home and come back LEGALLY!

Got it now?

Why Can’t they be good people in Mexico?
Because the system there is so completely corrupt that they can barely feed their kids.
Doesn’t make it right that they come HERE,thats for sure. But any movement to”change”Mexico would probably be a Marxist movement like the Zapatistas or the insurgents last year in Oaxaca.
Very little middle ground. The average Mexican is either faced with trying to eke out a living in Mexico, join a “revolutionary”movement or migrate to El Norte.

Illegals “in the shadows” ,hurl, are not assimilating now or trying to blend in, because they do not fear our laws. And when they are given amnesty, they will fear our laws less. It works that way when you enable criminals.

The theme of the article has absolutely no relevance to the argument over immigration policy. Mexicans could be the greatest, noblest people on the planet; it would not make it desirable to incorporate tens of millions of them into the population of the United States!

People are not interchangeable. Mexicans are unique, and so are the well-rooted peoples of America. There is no reason to try to replace the one with the other in the domains of either. The idea of an interchangeable ethnicity is an insult to every people, but it has been aggressively promoted for the last sixty years by various Leftist groups and theorists, almost all of which have one thing in common: They favor a one world Government, which will suppress the independence of all nations. It is an objective that ought to be resisted with every means at our disposal.
