“Again, as most of these things do, anything that claims to solve XXXX myriad of problems is full of it.”
“It’s a rip-off at least, and sometimes it’s dangerous, even if maybe rarely.”

You are correct, there are lots of *snakeoil* salesmen out there. However, there are natural supplements and compounds that have been around for 1000's of yrs that provide relief for a myriad of ailments. It's up to the individual to research the proper dosages and interactions with other supplements and pharm drugs. Alot of doctors are starting to come around to the fact people are using *natural* supplements so, make sure to tell them to avoid problems.

While I don’t doubt that the FDA should look into SOME
of the herbal “snake oil concoctions” out there most of the stuff is good
and legitimate.

For instance, I take ginger capsules for heartburn and upset stomach;
Echinacea and zinc for colds. If the FDA regulates these products then the
price will skyrocket!

No doubt there are some unscrupulous folks out there.

BUT...

If your livlihood and business depend on providing high quality supplements, then you are not gonna stay in business too long if you sell snakeoil.

And the FACT that yearly, there are TENS OF THOUSANDS of deaths from officially, FDA regulated prescription drugs AND LESS THAN TWENTY PER YEAR from supplements leads me to believe somebody is barking up the wrong tree.

And I firmly believe doctors and prescriptions treat symptoms after the fact, and the proper use of supplements can prevent the doctors from even getting involved in the first place.

For instance, I take magnesium supplements. There is WITHOUT QUESTION a deficiency in the average American of magnesium.
There is also WITHOUT QUESTION the fact that magnesium helps regulate blood pressure and heart function.

Anyone who makes blank statements that all supplements should be regulated is infringing on my RIGHT to make intelligent, informed decisions about my health and well being.

They are crossing the line. Big time. And also putting a fantastic, gullible faith in the medical community who are trying to make a profit!
