another example of Democrat-leaning sites inability to comprehend the FREE MARKET
I am sure many of you heard about Circuit's restructuring plan:
Can anyone please tell me why countless democrat-dominated site, like this one, are swarming with people who do not understand that companies have a right to adjust to the free market as they please? Makes you wonder how companies would be treated today if Gore won lol.
Quote: "Circuit City Wednesday announced a plan to lay off 3,400 employees and replace them with newly hired employees that will be paid less. On its Web site, Circuit City said the layoffs were part of a "wage-management initiative." The layoffs occurred Wednesday and targeted employees who were paid well above the market-based salary range for their role, the company said in statement. The employees were to be replaced with new workers that would be paid at a rate in line with the market."
Dems think everyone is ENTITLED to a job at a LIVING WAGE, no matter what your skills are............
"Nothing wrong with layoffs as long as the right people get laid off." You rude punks that ignored me know who you are.
I work for the Federal Government, and I wish we could do this, it would save a lot of taxpayer's money. Most liberals would prefer to have everyone working for the government.
"Excuse me--where are the home stereos?"
"I don't know--I just started yesterday. Oh, wait...if you don't see it then we don't have it..."
Well, if it is a free market, then I am not going to shop at Cicuit City! Any employer who now comes in and slashes established wages just to cut costs deserves to go out of business. You can be sure that it won't be long and the place will be "outsourced" anyways. This is the same management technique of many CEO's, etc that come in and get stock options, buy outs of their contracts, etc and leave a company in shambles and they walk off with millions of dollars.
Welcome to Free Republic. Do you think Circuit City is wrong?
I think it is the beginning of a sad trend in business. Here in West Michigan a company came in and slashed wages 17% about a month ago. These workers had worked for the company for several years, it was a business that had been well run by a family and then sold later. The new management came in and slashed wages. Many of these people are unskilled labor, but the trend toward "wage-management" initiatives will soon attack every level of work. If they can get away with it.
"Excuse me--where are the home stereos?"
"Que?"
I will never darken Circuit City's doors again.
See it as a class solidarity: in their guts the rats know that whatever THEY might be paid, they are paid too much for it.
No, they think everyone is entitled to $50/hr.
And they're full of !#%#!$.
That's completely your decision. I have no problem with what they are doing, so I'll keep sending my money their way.
Is it just me, or do I smell lightning?
Hmmm. How do you say "I need a 42"DLP flat-screen plasma high difinaion ready TV" in Mexican?
Circuit City's problem is that fewer and fewer people are "darkening" their doors. Places like Circuit City and HiFi Buys never really had especially knowledgeable staff to warrant their higher prices. Best Buys is next ...
As a free-market guy, let the chips fall. As an investor, sell this turkey fast, as a retail consultant, wait for their going-out-of-business sale, there`ll be lot`sa bargains! The only way to beat Wal-Mart is with customer service. You ain`t going to out cheap them.
Plenty of THAT!
Hmmmmmmmmmm................
