FReepers for Duncan Hunter Please vote in the FR poll. Fred Thompson is polling way out front here, and I think that is great, but personally I think Duncan Hunter would be better at the TOP of the ticket with Fred Thompson as VP...

You are certainly not alone with Huckabee, some of my relatives are pulling for him as well. I still think that Hunter/Thompson is the winning ticket.

Yes, DO, it’s very early. Like a horse race, sometimes it’s the one in the back that moves up on the outside and takes it all.

mecca seems to be blowing itself up. Not that it wouldn’t get rid of aq if we actually nuked it. People imo don’t have the stomach for another Hiroshima. It depends upon what the bad guys have in their playbook. At some point, doing something huge may be our only option. The leaky border has brought us who knows what? If we get a bio attack or suitcased, nukes may be the only way to go to stop the barbarians en masse.

Please pass this on to your Duncan Hunter Ping list.. When I first joined the Duncan Hunter campaign hardly anyone I talked to knew who he was.. now I run into people all the time that has at least heard of him, and when I tell them that he is my FIRST choice for POTUS many have joined me. We can do this... its NOT too early to get the word out, the fact of the matter is that a LOT of folks that look at Duncan Hunter seriously this early in the game actually join the campaign.. we need to keep this momentum going..

Okay folks here is yet another argument for a Duncan Hunter/Fred Thompson ticket.. and WHY we need Fred Thompson as the VEEP ! Think about the POWER he would have as PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE.. Fred Thompson is a very effective communicator and can really give the congress the "guidence" that they so desperately need, he would have their FULL attention anytime he wanted it just by taking his seat as President of the Senate, of course he would not have a vote unless the senate is split 50/50, but he could play a very public/active role in pushing legislation.. also think about the opportunities he would have to occassionally WOW the entire world with an occassional speech at the U.N.
For these reasons and many others we NEED Fred Thompson to take an ACTIVE role as VEEP, and help Duncan Hunter get his agenda passed, which he as so effectively communicated. Duncan Hunter is also great at the mic as well.. take a look at some of the debate clips, he is very quick and capable of getting his message to the people...

I highly doubt that Fred would accept veep. Papasmurf,
That is pretty powerful position to "decline" I seriously doubt ANYONE would decline it if offered... besides Duncan Hunter has not even offered the position to him yet :)
Also the last time I checked the term was 4 years not 16.. I understand the logic of the 16yr argument.. but in times like these we really need to re-evaluate the situation every 4 years.. NO FREE RIDES for ANY President or VEEP...

Or...let them go through the primaries and then sort it out then. I am for Hunter as President. I believe he best represents my own thoughts, and would not flinch away form them.
I also have strong feelings for Thompson over the other GOP candidates at this point, and believe he will probably garner the most votes.
If that happens, then the real possibility after all the dust flies is a Thompson/Hunter ticket. Which I believe Hunter would accept and I would fight vigorously for.
If somehow (as I would hope) it went the other way and Hunter had gained the most votes and was close to the nomination, I believe Thompson would come on board as the VP if offered. That would also be a great ticket (and actually my preference) which I would work very hard for.

Jeff,
I can’t agree with you more.. you captured in a few sentences what I have been communicating in a multitude of threads. Thank you very much. I look forward to working with you toward the primary and into the general election.

I'm a supporter of Fred Thompson, but I really was hoping that Duncan Hunter would be doing better on Free Republic.
Its a shame, I think this is one case where his humility has hurt him, reminds me of Mike Pence in a sense (forget the rhyme, no pun intended).

FRed has stated, flatly, that he would not accept VP if offered.
While I am a FRedhead, I would have no problem at all tapping the screen for Duncan should he garner the nomination. NONE.
Of those that will be or are running, FRed or Duncan will be the only two I will vote for. Yes, I'd rather get a freak lib dem, than have another RINO right now. I'm tired of settling, I'm tired of choosing between the lesser of two evils, and I'm tired of faux conservatives giving us a bad name and questionable legacy.
Our Country needs to move forward, not go sideways, not go backwards, forward. While either FRed or Duncan could do that, IMO, I honestly believe that FRed is the best man for the job.
