Come along with me if you will, to a time long ago. Well, actually just a few months ago. But apparently, it was seemingly a more innocent age:
On the July 27, 2006 edition of MSNBC's Hardball, host Chris Matthews asked Ann Coulter, "How do you know that [former President] Bill Clinton is gay?" -- referring to her comment the night before on CNBC's The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch that Clinton "show[s] some level of latent homosexuality."
Coulter responded, "I don't know if he's gay. But [former Vice President] Al Gore -- total fag."
She went on to defend her theory about Clinton's sexuality by stating that "everyone has always known, widely promiscuous heterosexual men have, as I say, a whiff of the bathhouse about them."
Coulter claimed she was "just kidding" about Gore, but said of her theory about Clinton, "It's not only not a joke, it's not even surprising."
As the world now knows, Ann Coulter made a similar joke at CPAC a couple of days ago. But this time our watchdog media were looking for dirt from CPAC, so they latched upon her joke, and pretended she was calling Edwards a faggot -- and of course indulging in hate speech.
But where was their outrage last July?
Where was outrage here at Free Republic?
(I believe some of the members of the audience were even Freepers.)
How time flies.
How about a Coulter fan's list ping for AC's finest defender on this forum?
If you are talking about me, I will put you on my list. But it's usually not about Coulter.
Unlike too many here, I like to spend most of my time attacking the other side.
(In fact, if anybody can find any post of mine ever attacking any conservative, I will eat it.
There are plenty enough people being paid to do that already.)
Enjoy your myopic state of mind then.
If you can't see the blatant hypocrisy and double-standards here, then you need Lasik eye surgery.
This weekend, I've had to spend too much time defending myself (and quite a few others) against the conservatives who hate gun-grabbing, gay-loving, abortionists-in-training, treasonous liberals (aka, conservatives who hate etc.) and their Salem Witch Trial revue.
They thought they had me tethered to the stake; but then all the faggots have gone away.
But why is it wrong to hold ourselves and our side to a higher standard?
Why is not accepting what seems to us unacceptable something to be mocked?
Is that not a double standard on your part?
Brilliant tagline. Just brilliant--though only in your own mind. It will help you be ignored.
All this outrage at her makes me want to pull my hair out, especially on FR. It's hard to believe so many FReepers want to tar and feather her.
Ha, you mean electric shock treatment!
Go Ann
I'll put that outrage thing on my "To-Do List."
E-mail a reminder to me in a couple of weeks just in case.
No matter what she says, you'll defend her though. If she came out tomorrow and called Dick Cheney a satanic pedophile, you'd be screaming that any conservative who dares disagree with her should "go back to DU".
Typical blind celebrity worship.
Well I guess I need eye surgery, because the last time I checked, Alec Baldwin and Kayne West's careers tanked after they opened their yappers too many times. When's the last time you saw a hit movie with Alec Baldwin in the title role? Mind you, this guy USED to be the STAR of huge films like Hunt for the Red October and Glen Garry Glen Ross. When's the last time you heard Kayne West topping the charts? His single "Gold Digger" was #1 in early 2005. In all of 2006, the highest ANY of his songs reached was #42 for one week. In the rap world, he's been far surpassed by Nelly Furtado, Ludacris, and 50 cent.
Those "artists" certainly took a nose dive after alienating people with their nasty attacks, along with the Dixie Chicks after their "we're ashamed Bush is from Texas" swipe.
As should Ann Coulter who can't find a way to diss an liberal trail lawyer without stooping to petty obscenities. All she did is give the Edwards camp a huge influx of cash cuz he can go cry victim. CPAC better wise up and decline to mail her invitation next year.
What a hilarious rant. Are you John Roberts' long lost son?
You have been railing against Coulter's crimes against him on every Coulter thread ever since she mentioned in one column that she didn't want to risk another Souter.
And, lest we forget, that was the extent of Cpulter's objection to Roberts. She didn't want to risk appointing another unknown and getting another Souter.
It was a very fair criticism.
But for some reason known only to you and your psychiatric team, you have turned this into some horrendous personal attack on Roberts and you have unleashed your jihad upon her ever since.
Talk about "worship." Do you keep an icon of Judge Roberts on your altar? Or just in your heart?
Get over it already. I bet Mr. Roberts has.
As I said, it's pretty hilarious. In a weird, sad way.
"As should Ann Coulter who can't find a way to diss an liberal trail lawyer without stooping to petty obscenities."
And what a surprise that a man of your sterling intellect wouldn't even understand the premise of her joke.
LOL
(.........................)
I gotta get rid of the young part of my name; I know Baldwin and the Ditzes--not sure of the others.
Ludacris? Is that a man or woman's name? Is that a joke?
Your hyperbole reveals your age and maturity. The Republic and AC will grind on despite your dire predictions. Lighten up; life's much too short to get this irritated about anyone.
Yes, she did that. She also called Arabs "Towelheads", and a bunch of other stupid namecalling silliness that sets the conservative movement back.
That's why we should have dumped her a long time ago. She's our Michael Moore.
Ragheads.
You don't seem to be able to get anything right.
But it's nice to see you are concerned about hurting mass murderers' feelings.
She was talking about mass-murdering terrorists, you know.
"That's why we should have dumped her a long time ago. She's our Michael Moore."
I hope you have this as a macro, so you don't have to re-type it on every thread.
