We all know about "limosine liberals" and "San Francisco liberals" and "east coast liberals" and "Hollywood liberals" and we all say we are against them. So, why is it that we seem to have a new breed of liberalism that is festering on a conservative forum?
By my calculations it is a small number (only about 15%) of FReepers that seem to be supporting a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual marriage, thrice-married (once to his cousing) gun-grabber for the office of President of the United States of America. And I'll be the first to admit that many of them are supporting Giuliani because they think he is the only Republican who can win. However, what about those FReepers who seem totally comfortable with Rudy's liberalism? In her book Treason, Ann Coulter describes in detail how communists infiltrated the Democrat Party and my fear is that decades from now, someone will describe how liberals infiltrated and destroyed conservativism in the name of pragmatism.
We all know that there are liberals here and I'm pretty certain that they aren't going anywhere. As a conservative, I know that conservativism consists of a belief in a strong national defense, fiscal conservativism and social conservativism, so to call these FReepers conservatives in name only (CINOs) would be incorrect because many of these FReepers don't even claim to be social conservatives. So, my question is this:
WHAT SHOULD WE CALL FREE REPUBLIC LIBERALS?
If, as you say, we "don't have the capacity to understand" liberals, then why are we here?
I think I'll hang out on the Gathering Of Eagles threads for a while and give the rudy threads a rest.
With so many on this thread, how many of you are putting your bodies where your mouths are and making the trip to DC and the WR FReep? Your country needs you today. The elections will play themselves out a couple of years from now.
Sorry for the hijack, lunch is over, back to classes for me.
Do you disagree with the Intrade market price for DH? Then make it 10X higher, and the odds are still a prohibitive 20:1.
Based on this, and multiple other proofs, I don't believe DH has a chance, and thus supporting him is hugging the delusive phantom of hope. You offer no evidence that DH does have a chance aside from merely asserting it to be so.
It is fine with me that my FR brethern support candidates I consider unrealistic, I would only ask that if I choose not to partake in what I consider a fantasy that I am not called some lame made up insult tag without being properly pinged.
On every posting page:
Please: NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts. You want to have calm, rational discussions with folks, that's great. If both sides on this want to call each other childish names, then a trip to the SBR followed by suspensions ought to be the order of business.
Actually, I was wondering if I could 'short' Rudy...(8^D)
I was going to suggest "Freebies" since liberals all want to "give something to someone" when others have to pay for it, but your "Freakers" certainly is a far, far better fit.
I like freebies too LOL!
My reading of this is that a "personal attack" is one that is directed at a specific individual (for instance in THIS thread I have been called Torquemada and compared to the Taliban; on another thread, everyone who opposed Rudy is called a "kool aid drinker"). However, all I have done is inquire about LIBERALS on a conservative forum, I haven't called ANYONE any name, please explain how this is a personal attack. I view terms such as liberal and conservative to be statements of fact based upon a person's prevailing political philosophy, so I fail to see how this can be considered an attack.
It's not you specifically. I'm just getting sick of all of the sniping between the Hunter and Guiliani camps getting childish, finger-pointing, and name calling. When you post a thread with the explicit purpose of coining a term for one of the two groups, I'm going to mentally lump you in with the childish name-callers.
I've seen it for previous election campaigns, where the sides get so deep into slinging mud and insults that they forget to be civil to each other on unrelated topics. I'd just prefer nip this behavior in the bud now, if possible.
Heck, place your marker on DH. Put down $5000 (pocket change!) and when he sweeps to the nomination you'll get a million dollars. Just make sure your earnings are in 2008, so as to miss the 2009 tax increase that President Hillary (who crushes DH) institutes.
PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS.
You are making us look bad; is this intentional on your part to make FR conservatives/Hunter supporters look stupid, as though all we care about is name-calling?
How about promoting the desirable attributes of our candidate?
THANK YOU!! I'm wondering if these vanities by Old_Mil and wagglebee are being posted to deliberately make us look bad. I've carefully read several threads on both Rudy and Duncan and the vast majority of Hunter supporters are more interested in supporting our candidate than in attacking Rudy supporters.
Thank you, Mr. Silverback. I agree.
Your pockets are deeper than mine! But I am considering doing that on a smaller scale. Better odds than Powerball!
DCPatriot, most of us are civil and not interested in attacking supporters of Rudy, but some do point out his drawbacks.
Unfortunately, we have a very few belligerent types who are "stirring it up" to no avail. We need to get back to intelligent discussion.
I'm more than happy to point out Rudy's numerous liberal positions. And have not been the least shy about it. But his supporters, mostly, are good folks here. I try not to insult them, but some have taken "offense" about taking Rudy to task. That hypersensitivity is unbecoming.

Some you don't even have to out...there's one who says on his profile that he's liberal on social issues and 'hopelessly liberal' on immigration. Let's see if he shows up here on this thread.

Let's stick to the bloody issues, please.
Thank you for these thoughtful posts.
Anything wrong with "Fib-erals"?
