From the Deseret News:
Trolley Square rampage puzzle still lacks 'why'
By Ben Winslow
Salt Lake City police detectives believe they know what happened.
They just don't know why.
The investigation into the Trolley Square shooting rampage Feb. 12 apparently is hinging on the unanswered question: why?
Why did 18-year-old Sulejman Talovic go on a killing spree inside the crowded mall, killing five people and wounding four others before dying in a shootout with police?
On Friday, Salt Lake City police said detectives have been reviewing their evidence, witness and survivor accounts to make sure everything is consistent.
"They feel pretty comfortable they know where people were and when, where the shooter was," Salt Lake City police detective Jeff Bedard said Friday. "We're trying to figure out why."
Police Chief Chris Burbank said they have found nothing so far that points to a motive, other than that Talovic was a "very disturbed individual who felt that this was his only option in life."
"It's unfortunate that society, you know, we have these things come up every once in a while, and we haven't come up with a solution to prevent it," Burbank told the Deseret Morning News.
Burbank said they continue to trace the guns that Talovic used, a 12-gauge shotgun and a .38-caliber pistol. Police are still tracking down people who had contact with Talovic so they can be questioned.
"We're still going through the process of looking at anyone that he may have had contact with that had a computer," the chief said, adding that homicide detectives have not found any connection between the young man and his victims or the Trolley Square mall.
Whatever the detectives have learned, they've gone to great lengths to keep quiet.
Police have refused to release many basic details of the shooting rampage, including how many shots were fired by both Talovic and officers, the make and model of the guns he used, where they were purchased and what Talovic said to his victims and officers before he died.
"He really said nothing," Burbank said. "It's my understanding that he used a curse word and that's it."
A series of records requests filed by the Deseret Morning News under the Government Records Access Management Act for 911 tapes, transcripts and incident reports have all been denied. The newspaper has filed an appeal to the Salt Lake City Attorney's Office...
Burbank said that he believes his detectives will uncover a motive.
"There are still a lot of questions to be asked from a lot of different people," he said...
Funeral plans for Talovic are also on hold. The family said it is still working with the Bosnian government to get approval to bury him in his homeland...
No, perhaps we'll never know. Certainly not if our politically correct police and media masters have their way.
And note that even this article assiduously avoids any mention of Mr. Talovic's religion.
The family said it is still working with the Bosnian government to get approval to bury him in his homeland.
Speaking of which, whatever else this shooting spree was, it was certainly a case study in ingratitude:
Bosnian Muslim Redzo Talovic (59) distant relative of Sulejman Talovic, shows the ruins of the pre-war home where Sulejman Sulejman was born, in the village of Talovici, 100 kms northeast of Bosnian capital of Sarajevo, on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007. Talovic left the village of Talovici in 1993 in a UN convoy and the houses were destroyed during the war.
The home of Sulejmen Talovic sits in a quiet neighborhood Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, in Salt Lake City.
Mourners look at photographs and mementos of Vanessa Quinn, pictured with husband Rich, left, during her funeral Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, in Sandy, Utah.
But of course we are supposed to forgive and forget.
It's the Christian politically correct way.

They couldn't find a reason? Really? Because it only took me about 10 seconds to find this one, and I'm sure there are plenty more...
""Slay them wherever you find them...Idolatry is worse than carnage...Fight against them until idolatry is no more and God's religion reigns supreme." (Surah 2:190-)
Gosh, what could the motive POSSIBLY have been? Did the killer ever attend a radical mosque? Did he have family members or relatives here who are anti-American or anti-Christian? I'll bet the police know the answers, but they haven't yet come up with an acceptably PC motive to release to the press.
"...whatever else this shooting spree was, it was certainly a case study in ingratitude:"
Maybe he wanted to thank us, but couldn't according to his faith?
"Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends." (Surah 5:51)
Uh, he went to Trolley Square because that's where the infidels are?
Since when does a Jihadist need a motive?
Use keyword "NONTERRORISTATTACK" for stories like this... where the PC law enforement agencies and news services maintain this is not a terrorist attack in America.
"Uh, he went to Trolley Square because that's where the infidels are?"
Is there somewhere else he should have gone? Seems obvious that people would be massed and easy targets at a place like that.
This is a "Duuuuh, Which way did dey go? Which way did dey go?" moment for law enforcement, if true.
You understand, of course, that the core beliefs of Islam include a categorical imperative that the entire world MUST be converted to Islam, by force if necessary.
They see no contradiction in using force against others, yet believe themselves to be persecuted if others raise a countervailing force.
The concept of the Golden Rule does not exist in the practice of the Islamic ideology. Nor do the Ten Commandments.
I'd check out what mosque he was attending. I would bet that the Imams there were preaching Islamic fascism. While I do not think this guy was part any terrorist cell, he likely bought into the radical Muslim ideal of killing a bunch of infidels to get his 72 virgins.
So is there any wisdom in the gummint keeping the religion of these homicidal maniacs quiet? To ward off a meltdown, I would guess. You know. To keep the mass[es] from going 'critical'.
Maybe Achmed couldn't find a pair of jeans that would fit??

There underlays a much more significant aspect to this crime than many acknowledge may be manifest.
Belief in God through faith in Christ results in the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the believer. This is not the case with other belief systems. It is purely by God's grace and His volition that this is given.
A significant consequence for those who simply fail to believe in God through faith in Christ, is that they are humans with body and soul, but are susceptiple to not only making wrong decisions in their souls, but are also susceptible to not only demonic influence, but actual demonic possession of their bodies and thinking processes.
Whereas many secular citizens simply group Christianity in with all other religions as a comparative religion, the real significance is how God Himself provides for man and how humans choose to accept or reject that provision.
One consequence of rejecting faith in Christ, is the influence of deceiving spirits and demonic activity amongst those who reject Him. Whereas many in this nation may have grown up protected by the grace given to a nation with many hidden believers in Christ, our future nation, if fallen away, is not in the same situation to receive such grace.
Situations such as this, where an avowed Muslim family immigrates to the US, refuses to place faith in Christ, doesn't mean they were demon possessed, but increases the stats for those who are susceptible to extreme demonic influence and possibly possession.
(Of course throwing Muslims into a Mormon community probably doesn't do much to protect either group from deceiving spirits and possible demonic influence.)
Someone oughtta atart a religion that promises 173 virgins and Cadillac to any muzzie that doesn't engage in terrorism. That should make Mohammud look like a cheapskate.
