"exactly!! the MSM and Journalists are beyond "stupid"!!"

Do you give a pass to people like Drudge, who scooped even the traditional media on this? Or indeed, to people who then repost it on Free Republic and further spread it?

Im reading this now. If one quarter of what's in the book is true, not only has the US government and the UN been irresponsible for more than decade in dealing with Iran, but Iran WILL get the bomb soon.Very scary stuff.

I would think this is more like the beginning of an 'all-in' round at the poker table.

My thoughts as well. The Israelis, as always, have caused their enemy to badly underestimate them and Iran will be made to pay for this.

* How many times do they have to pull one of these off before the Islamo-fascists start to catch on?

I saw a program on the History Channel last night that mentioned that there are approximately 30,000 nuclear warheads worldwide and almost all are in the hands of the U.S. and Russia. The sum total of nuke warheads held by other countries are about 200.

Just sharing, for what it's worth.

Gee, first Israel lets it slip that they even have nuclear weapons, and now this. Looks like they have a leak problem as bad as the White House.
Do you think its just a Psy-op to spook Ima-whackjob into doing something really stupid?
I understand that much of their nuclear program is in deeply hardened bunkers so tactical nukes make sense. But boy will this upset the middle east street. Bwahahahahaha!

You guys really think Olmert (Olmert?) would attack Iran?

I don't think he's got the guts.

On April 28, 2005 the Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress of the sale of 100 GBU-28 "bunker buster" guided bombs to Israel. Designed to penetrate hardened command centers located deep underground, the GBU-28 is a 5,000-pound laser-guided bomb that uses a 4,400-pound penetrating warhead and contains 630 pounds of high explosives.

Israel challenges Iran's nuclear ambitions
By Anton La Guardia, Diplomatic Editor 22/09/2004

Israel admitted yesterday that it is buying 500 "bunker-buster" bombs, which could be used to hit Iran's nuclear facilities, as Teheran paraded ballistic missiles as a warning against attack.......The BLU-109 bombs, which can penetrate more than 7ft of reinforced concrete, are among "smart" munitions being sold to Israel under America's military aid programme.

Israel Builds up its Stockpile of Deadly Military Hardware

A massive buildup in military hardware has occurred in preparation for a possible attack on Iran.

Israel has recently taken delivery from the US of some 5,000 "smart air launched weapons" including some 500 BLU 109 'bunker-buster bombs. The (uranium coated) munitions are said to be more than "adequate to address the full range of Iranian targets, with the possible exception of the buried facility at Natanz, which may require the [more powerful] BLU-113 bunker buster ":

"Given Israel's already substantial holdings of such weapons, this increase in its inventory would allow a sustained assault with or without further US involvement." (See Richard Bennett

If it turns out to be bogus, this is one forum where it will be immediately debunked.

It happens all the time.

RE; CENTCOM change of command

A more mundane answer- the command of CENTCOM is rotated among services. Now it is the Navy's overdue turn at Command which it has not held since inception of CENTCOM.

Simply check the history of command, by service, at CENTCOM.

Move along folks- nothing more to see here.

I have come to think that Netanyahu is nothing but a 'poser' despite his rhetoric......

Wow, that is a pretty clueless statement.

If anything can be said about Netanyahu, "poser" is the last thing that on that list

It's hard to know until we see the actual article and what it entails. It could have been a move from leftists in Israel who wanted to make this public to dampen the chances of it happening, it could be a genuine scoop, it could be bogus, it could be Israeli mind games against Iran...who knows, we'll know better in a hour or two.

Is this why we are moving 2 aircraft carriers to the Gulf?

Actually, make that 3, as the USS Ronald Reagan, which departed port on January 4th, is believed to be headed there as well.

I'm hoping we have a Middle East war in 2007. It's really the only way we can stabilize Iraq. But it's hard to believe it will really happen. But it makes me very glad I am in the military. If it happens, I want to be a part of it.

War planning goes on in the military establishment of every country of the world. One of the contingencies that Israel has to consider, is that nobody, NOBODY, is going to come to their aid if Iran DOES develop nuclear weapons and a means to deliver them. The US may be far away by then, and captured by the Dem'crats, who have no interest in the preservation of Israel. No help will be coming from France, or Russia, or China. Great Britain may be engaged in its own cultural upheaval, in no position to help either.
So Israel is left with only a stark reality of annihilation and extinction if they do NOT act, and swiftly.

So with never seeing a scrap of paper, or hearing a whisper about projected plans, it is probably a pretty safe guess that such plans DO exist, and are under periodic review.

I am sure the Israeli military does, indeed, have such plans. They have plans for every contingency they can imagine. It does not mean that the Israeli government has the nerve to use those plans constructively. My guess is that it does not.

Not true, low yield 500K tactical nukes would not kill millions, rather make it impossible for them to survive in those areas for many years in the future. The 14 facilities under construction, and 44 uranium mines (of the 120 known) would have to be neutralized. EMP bombs (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) would wipe out electronics on aircraft and computers and really everything electrical with no loss of life. Right now, the Iranian congress is well aware of the trouble Armadidejan has put them in with the world watching. The US just imposed sanctions on Iran and Syria and Russia is protesting, and for good reason, they are a chief supplier to terrorism in the world, and were a chief player in the corruption in the Oil for Food program in Iraq. It is not out of the rhelm of possibility that when the first bombings happen in Iran, the Bekkah Valley in Syria will also be demolished. That is where the WMD from Iraq was moved to before the coaltion forces came in and Deposed Saddam Hussien.

Thanks for the DU link. I waded into the cesspool and found the usual profanity laced rants against President Bush and corporations.

It is very good that FR self-policies profanity. It forces us to reason our arguments.
