Unfortunately the story is inaccessable unless you subscribe to the online paper website. Too bad, I'd have liked to read the whole story.
Good story, that the crime was stopped. It would have been better if the woman had had her own gun to stop the attempted rape. There won't always be another person to come by at the right moment to end the attack.
Here's another article on this story. It says the hispanic man is the one with the gun that stopped the attack and won't release info on the perp. The cops can't find either.

Vacaville Police Search For Sexual Assault Suspect
(CBS13) VACAVILLE, Calif. Police are looking for the man who tried to rape a Vacaville woman Wednesday night, and the male suspect who helped rescue the woman from harm.
Police say the woman was in a public Laundromat on Gable Avenue when a man began talking to her. Later when she refused his advances, officers say he pushed the woman against a laundry table and tried raping her.
Another male came into the Laundromat with a handgun and confronted the suspect and ordered him to leave the woman alone. The suspect then grabbed the victim and led her out of the laundry room.
The two men ended up in a physical fight behind the laundry room, it is unknown if they both knew each other.
The armed man is described as a Hispanic male is his early 20's, wearing a baseball cap, black jacket, and red shirt. A description of the sexual assault suspect has not been provided.
Police note that this suspect is not the Vacaville serial rapist.
If you have any information on the suspects whereabouts you are asked to contact Detective Bob Horel at (707) 469-6630.
It IS a good story. Was in the print edition I glommed onto this morning. Perhaps later I can trascribe some more of it into this thread...
Thanks for finding this. I don't have the article in front of me so I may have misremembered who was whom... but I suspect that the guy who stopped the rape attempt may have been carrying "illegally" which would explain his reluctance to come forward... Pity we yet have to put up with these barbaric laws!
That'll be cool. I worked in Vacaville for seven years, so I know the community pretty well. It's sad that this type of crime happens anywhere, but especially in a community like that. I'm hopeful they catch this scumbag before he is able to actually finish a rape attempt (if he hasn't already).
There are a few things very odd about this case.
1. The rapist began talking to the woman first, and then proceeded to attempt a rape in what can only be described as basically a public and lighted area.
2. The way the CBS13 story reads, the second man enters the Laundromat with a gun apparently already prepared then confronts the suspect.
3. They later fight behind the Laundromat, yet neither is apparently shot. Nor apparently does the fight devolve into a serious enough scenario to warrant more than a threat to abort the rape.
The whole thing stinks.
It's not at all what it appears to be assuming, of course, the reporting is accurate, and mitigating information has not been purposely withheld. And you can bet the police have withheld information because they know it stinks. Any Dick worth his salt knows this reeks, and Horel does too.
And the man who broke it up was not an innocent passing bystander who happened to be armed and just cruising by, he was a spot-man (lookout) or was out hunting the suspect (probably cause he knew what he might attempt and had some idea of his whereabouts) who crashed the party for whatever reasons, either he had spotted heat, had been made, feared interference from someone else, realized he knew the victim or knew of her, had a change of heart, whatever.
If they crack this soon don't be surprised if it oozes around the edges a little.

Ain't it interesting that the cops are more concerned with getting the guy who STOPPED the rape than they are of getting the pervert.
The facts, if true, look like how a hooker and her pimp might operate, the scenario fits that too. Or the woman may have been trying to break off with an old lover, and the new one was prepared.
The fact that the defender didn't pull speaks volumes. He wasn't righteous. This is NOT being accurately reported.
LOL, whatever floats her boat. I prefer to have my hands on a clean gun, not a dirty...sack.
It's being reported accurately, based on what the cops will actually release. But it does stink, as Horel knows, case in fact, take notice of this:
