... OK, I admit it: The writer of these lines loves Eretz Yisrael, the birthplace of the Jewish People, the Holy Land and the Promised Land, without any connection to security considerations. In his opinion, it is forbidden for any Jewish government to harm Eretz Yisrael, let alone to execute ethnic cleansing of its Jews, whatever the circumstances.

Earlier today I heard something like this (as best as I can remember it) about President Bush's possible choices:

"... there is a time when dedication to a cause becomes self-defeating ..."

My first thoughts were: how nice that we weren't worried about being too dedicated when we fought the Nazi, or endured the expense of the cold war before President Reagan finally stated that victory––not coexistence––should be the goal.

And how sad that we've lost even that much backbone that now the act of fighting for our lives against an enemy who has displayed the stupidity to swarm all over a battlefield where they cannot directly attack us but where we can definitely kill them (i.e. Iraq) is now considered "unwise."

This is all of a piece with the international community's desire to create a nation out of people who have only proved their inability to live peaceably with their neighbors.

As with illegal immigration which can be boiled down to people feeling they shouldn't have to obey our laws for whatever reasons they give, the left completely misses the point that whatever the rationale that these Arabs use: the simple fact is that NOW and for the FORESEEABLE FUTURE these will be violent and barbaric because they feel no need to be peaceable or civilized.

Given such a social phenomena––were I in charge––I would be loath to even allow the refugee camps in the land to even continue to exist – much less hand over self government to them to form a (gag) state.

But I can clearly see that even though people respect––maybe even admire–– Churchill and others like him: they manifestly agree with and seek to emulate Chamberlin. Their attachment to a notion of extreme peace so dear that they loose sight of reason itself.
