Well he can afford to stiff them. He has six years head start.

Webb remained beligerent and withdrew .. Webb wrote that he wanted to punch the President because he was so angry yada yada ... but the President was doing a respectable thing, asking about his son, and Webb turns it into a media event - disgusting!
Webb actually went further - saying that the confrontation was a symbolic "leadership" act on his part. Essentially admitting that the confrontation was intentional and staged on his part.
To Webb, engaging in staged theatrics designed to insult the President shows what a good leader he is (*snort*). I actually hope he keeps it up - maybe even staging some faux theatrics at the State of the Union next month - and becomes more of a public embarassment to his newly-adopted Party.

Virginia like Pennslyvania have elected idiots and deserve what fate is going to befall them. Please remember that not all of us voted for this jackass. Many of us worked hard to help reelect Allen.
That said, with Webb in the Senate, the fate about to befall Virginia befalls the nation.

I am not one of those that runs around blaming the messenger. The rank and file conservative GOP folks knew in their hearts that the party leadership lost their way both fiscally and philosophically. That's why the Dems won.
When the President came out this week and said he would be using his veto power on the Dems to reign in spending I for one found it extremely disingenuous.

No doubt the rank and file conservatives are happy now.
Thanks for your treachery.

Respectfully, this is a Webb-bashing thread. Please, let's leave the President out of it.
Thanks.

President Bush has vetoed exactly ONE bill in the past five years. He's gone veto them now left and right? Yeah, right.

I believe the next two years bode very bad news for America and the Terrorists are quite happy with our weakness.
After thinking about it, this is the reason that I now do not there will be any terrorists attacks upon the continental United States during '07 and '08.
The terrorists won an election in '06. They do not want to do anything that would diminish their chances to win in '08 also.
By terrorists winning, I mean Democrats. Any win for Democrats is a win for terrorists.

Good Lord, I'd have to say that probably Virginia has the largest percentage of any state of military personel and vets. Sounds to me like he's making very bad career moves.
To: diverteach
Like I said, he has six years. He could care less about offending vets.

Did Powerline miss the point? It is all about Webb and nothing but Webb is the problem. This is just a start. By the way anyone know for sure what "macaca" really means?
Calling someone a monkey does not seem to be political capitol offense. But I guess "niggardly" was, so maybe Webb deserves to be there just like OJ Simpson was set free when the Fuhrman used the "n" word with a journalist.
The RATS don't over estimate the intelligence of their supporters. The Washington Post decided "macaca" was a racial slur on the basis of what some White Europeans said about the natives in darkest Africa. They, too, don't over estimate their readership.
To: Recon Dad
I find it extremely disingenuous that you would compare Webb to Bush when he ran against Allen. Webb is a fool of the highest order, and that ain't no compliment. Give him six months in office and both sides will hate his guts.

The Democrats found someone who served under Reagan. They got someone who could beat Allen. Now Harry Reid has to herd a bunch of newcomer cats into a solid majority - difficult even under the best of circumstances.

Just because he's Scot-Irish doesn't mean he has to be a wild boar. If he's so proud of his heritiage, then why not wear a kilt instead?

President Bush has vetoed exactly ONE bill in the past five years. He's gone veto them now left and right? Yeah, right. I'd be shocked if he doesn't. Presidents generally don't veto their own side's legislation.

He won't wear a kilt because he is Scots-Irish, NOT a Scot. He even dissed the Highland Scots (MY people) in his book. He is an all-purpose hater.

"Wow, what a jackass. As if we didn't know that already. And then he grandstands about "his son" and wanting to punch the President."
Bush is in pretty good shape, I'm sure he would have been more than happy to punch Webb right back.
