Yes, it does describe most democrats. Webb, however, is poor at hiding it, which will give us lots of interesting situations over the next few years.

I predict that these veterans won't be the last people to whom Mr. Webb will give the cold shoulder. But with the long-term Democrat trends in VA, Webb may be there for a long time. Webb did show how weak George Allen was as a campaigner.

"Idiot" Pennsylvanians, you say. Is that why PA has not produced a President since 1856?

Still, if he is a PC loose cannon, it will be all right, even amusing and accepted.

He is absolutely, certifiably, undeniably NUTS, and it is only going to get worse. The guy thinks that he has been dissed his entire life because he is Scots-Irish and isn't from "the elite". He has a chip on his shoulder the size of Gibraltar, a hair-trigger temper, and a poorly disguised disdain for women and minorities.

But he ran on the whole Soros/lib platform of "tolerance and pluralism."

I don't see how one has to do with the other, but fine.

A person shouldn't be surprised if he takes a pig into his house and then the pig defecates on the carpet. Webb is obviously one of the most arrogant, egotistical pigs ever elected. But he wasn't the first, and he won't be the last. Too bad for Virginians.

I don't understand why any self-respecting group would want that pervert to address them in the first place.

Allen's problem was that this campaign showed he was a "moderate" to liberal and VA needs someone solid Republican to win..republicans aren't doomed they just need to re.build..IMO

Allen made the mistake of appearing to repudiate having a Confederate flag in his office.

There are several societies in Virginia who command enough votes to put you out of office for doing that.

I call 'em all the "Ku Kluxers"

Webb was not asked to repudiate them.

Sorry, that's not what I said at all. Southside and the Valley put Webb into office. That's where you find entirely too many unreconstructed Confederate cultural types.

Webb met their standard.

The Liberals are what they've always been ~ and will be. They do not dominate politics in VA.

For a long time though, Republicans have trouble winning statewide in VA for governor or U.S. senator, less difficulty for other offices. It does seem that Allen was error-prone in this campaign.

...if you think Webb is liberal you haven't been paying attention...many of his positions are much more conservative than the rest of the party.....
....he also has little tolerance for commanders that place troops in harms way unnecessarily.... he took on Cap Weiberger over I believe re flagging tankers and the current Sec Def over defending oil rigs in the gulf, was against marines in Beirut in 1983 etc....this maybe why he snubbed bush earlier since the GOP's prosecution of the war has been amatuerish at best.....read the Nightingales Song and you'll get a better idea of the senator....or keep up the neocon drivel...your choice

Webb has his excuses. I think Ronaldus Magnus simply discovered the man to be a fascist, much like the fellows he knew running the Hollywood film industry, and canned him.
