How about Zell Miller for Speaker of the House?
one man's opinion...

Posted on 11/15/2006 2:51:33 PM PST by ken5050

Go ahead..think about it. There have been many threads and comments here the last few days about how the House GOP should support a "moderate" Dem, even Hoyer..to defeat Pelosi as Speaker. But if we're going to go that route, it should be a Dem of great stature, independence, and acceptable to working with the GOP. So, how about Zell? Remember, there is NO Constitutional requirement that the Speaker be a serving congressman; it's just customary. Anyone can be elected Speaker. All of the Republicans in the House, and the ENTIRE Dem "Blue Dawg" caucus would vote for him..He'd get 250+ votes easy...

Blue Dogs wouldn't support him. That's the problem.

They aren't really 'conservative' Democrats. They are just less bats#!t crazy then Pelosi.

This would be a thing of beauty. Unfortunately liberal democrats hate a man like Zell Miller far more than some of the names that have been floated for the 2008 nomination.

Please no.
Not Old "Zig Zag Zell".
Anyhow, it'll never happen - thank God.

I really think Zell should be Secretary of Defense.
