We'll see nancy Pelosi she truly reaches out to Bush and other Republicans in a bipartisan spirit, or if they continue on with their divisive partisan rhetoric.
We'll see if Nancy Pelosi "drains the swamp" as she puts it.
Will this "draining" include Democrats Harry Reid, Jefferson, and Menendez? Scandals have loomed around them. Jefferson and his $90,000 stashed in a freezer found during an FBI raid. Harry Reid and the land deal and Christmas bonuses flaps. Yeah, we'll see.
We'll see if Nancy Pelosi and the Dems keep to a centrist and moderately conservative agenda (like they said they would), since the gains in the House came form newly elected "conservative" Dems.
Since Pelosi's backing and helping to raise money for them got them there it is unlikely that they will oppose her when she ultimately attempts to ram through a liberal agenda that is in keeping with her San Francisco style liberal voting record.
We'll see if the Dems keep their promise to not raise taxes on the middle class. Did Bill Cinton keep his promise?
We'll see if the Dems keep their promise to just engage in "oversight" of the Bush Adm. or launch into divisive, gridlocking and partisan investigations of the Bush adm. - something they said they would not do.
We'll see if the Dems try to work with the Bush adm. for a bi-partisan approach on winning the war in Iraq (which they said they would do), or continue to undermine the troops and the president with their rhetoric and cut-and-run from Iraq.
Concerning all those new "conservative" Dems that were elected: keep an eye on them at http://www.vote-smart.org
If they cut-and-run from their "conservatism", expose them and get them booted from Congress in 2008.
Lastly, it is time that the Dems give us a plan for Iraq. They have power in the House and maybe, and unfortunately the Senate also. They can't just say to Bush, 'give us a new direction plan for Iraq and we'll look at it.' They said they would give a new direction on Iraq, so...
It is time now for them to put up or shut up. They have no excuses now to not give their plan concerning Iraq.
We all want our troops to come home, the question is when and how, and whether or not we will leave Iraq and its hundreds of billions of dollars in oil wealth to terrorists who would use that wealth to launch terror attacks on the west to their hearts content.
