Why I am not voting Republican this fall [because I'm a retread zotted troll]
SmallGovTimes.com ^ | 09/23/2006 | William Calhoun

Posted on 09/23/2006 9:42:15 PM PDT by Tiger007

A friend of mine recently was surprised when I told him that I am not voting Republican this fall. "You are one of the most conservative people I know," he said.

"Exactly," I said, "and that is precisely why I am not voting Republican." For me, illegal immigration has been the final straw. And the GOP's recent decision to pull funding from Randy Graf's campaign shows the writing on the wall: CONSERVATIVES, YOU ARE NOT WELCOME IN THE GOP. Of course, the GOP will take conservatives' votes and money, but if a real conservative runs for office, he almost certainly will be shunned.

The GOP historically has been quite liberal. And now, those at the helm are steering it towards its liberal roots. While President Bush and Senator McCain are seeing who can run farther to the left of Ted Kennedy on the issue of immigration, our country is under invasion. Already 20 million illegals have invaded our country, and our president (other than lip service) has done nothing about it. In fact, he exudes a long track record of encouraging the illegal invasion of our country.

In the 1950s, when our country was under invasion, President Eisenhower (via "Operation Wetback") responded with troops, and deported over 1 million illegals in less than a year. Yet President Bush says he is unable. Rather, he is unwilling. If Bush had engaged in this pandering to illegals in the 1950s, he would have been impeached and tried for treason.

In fact, the treason lobby seems to have overtaken the GOP. By 1950s standards, President Bush, Vice-President Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, and Senators McCain, Specter, Brownback, DeWine, and Graham are all guilty of treason. Behind the scenes, they have supported the unconstitutional NAFTA Superhighway, and at every turn have undermined American sovereignty. They have betrayed the Constitution and hard-working Americans so that they can make a fast buck from big business and attempt (unsuccessfully) to court illegal aliens for future political support.

And the GOP rewards such treason. Although Senator DeWine has been ranked by Human Events as one of the ten worst border-security politicians in the country, the GOP still funds him. And in the process, they ceased to fund Randy Graf, a true patriot who actually wants to defend America from this invasion. They take money from the conservative and give it to the liberal. This is the modus operandi of the GOP.

If I am ever able to vote for a true conservative in the GOP (e.g. John Duncan, Tom Tancredo, Ron Paul, or Pat Buchanan) then I shall. Otherwise, I am voting Constitution Party (the real conservative party) or not voting at all.

Yep, you're right. In fact, Dane posted this same column earlier today and, like you, I have seem similar posted here. We are supposed to fall for this "sage advice."

I've also notice there are too many people who call talk radio shows who claim to be in the US military now or in the recent past and say they have doubts about kicking Saddam's regime out of Iraq. It's a sure sign that you have a liberal seminar caller when a caller opens up with "I'm in the military but I have serious doubts about what we're doing in Iraq...." I've also heard liberals call in who say they're physicians (so we'll respect their opinion), but then they don't sound smart enough or sufficiently educated to be doctors. I think there's a lot of deceptive calling to talk radio these days.

If this guy thinks the Democrats have better immigration and fiscal policies than the Republicans, then he's not a conservative. He's an idiot. And if he doesn't vote Republican, he will only be helping the Democrats. Sorry, folks, that's reality, whether you like it or not. Period. End of story.

Ahh, BS... the fellow said he would be voting Constitutional Party... which is a whole dang more Conservative that all the libs and Pubs mixed in a blender and strained out for conservative truth juice..

Perhaps he would be helping the sorry arse Dims (on the short term surface) at first look, but he would be also returning the future voter power shift back to a more conservative area in future elections. Republicans are not stupid creatures, they know the electorate center to stand, and without extremes to the right being worth courting, there is no reason to stay conservative.

Alabama congressmen have done a fine job of staying to the right of most conservatives in Washington (especially on illegal immigration issues), so I will continue to vote for them.. But when they don't hold the line as they should to defend this nation, I will also vote CP or some other conservative write in person in the same vein. I will be holding the line for conservatism, and that is a good thing.

The worse thing as mentioned by several good Freepers here, is that USSC slots will be needed to filled to avoid the flood of lib judges that make law instead on interperting the Constitution.

But all in all, Pubs do need people to hold the line of what conservatives need to be... otherwise... there isn't a incentive to stay in the right...

BTW... founding father Benjamin Rush understood this very well... I have adopted one of his quotes in honor of him in my tagline.

I personally don't see why so many FReepers have problems with people being true conservatives... sad IMHO...

And I could care less if you want to follow the crowd and scream troll at the top of your lungs because of my stance.

I will continue to vote conservative, now and in the future... never democratic... but not necessarily republican...

Deal with it...

Yep. just like my left foot. It's sore as all get-out right now, but I'll tell you this: I'm NOT considering sawing it off.

LOL That's a pretty good analogy but allow me to tweak it a little closer to the truth...

"My left foot is sore as heck. I think I'll give it gangrene just to show it who's boss."

Are you talking to me? I choose the Republican Party because two-thirds of its members maybe one-sixth of Democrats ,agree with me on any given issue on any given issue.

Agreed...According to the Admin Mod he was "nanak" a retread troll (post 10). He also posted a piece last night (I believe) where he called Dick Armey a Rino among other things and didn't stick around to answer many posts to him about it and it was his thread.

I couldn't agree more on rallying our base to defeat the Rats.

The GOP has really shown the door to conservatives with these moves in my district.

I can't believe how much animosity exists against conservatives in the GOP. If the national party doesn't want to elect Graf over Gabrielle Giffords, what do they want? Oh yeah. More McCains and Specters and Chafees. That's who they always support.

The national Dems are already running ads for Gabrielle the French sounding soccer mom, calling Graf an extremist. So our people pull out on him. Great. They think they can run the usual Rino robot or Kolbe clone against her in two years and get people like me to vote for an almost Dem. I won't forget what they did this year. No more Rino's.

If Gabrielle gets in Congress she will stay for thirty years, and the national GOP deserves every one of her votes. Heck, they probably agree with her.

You guys are already making excuses for Graf. Look, he is the primary winner and if he wins that is GREAT BUT it makes no sense for the national party to throw money at him if he came out of the primary 15 points down 6 weeks before the election, as has been reported, in a slightly GOP leaning district. Ya'll chased the car and caught it. If he is as strong as all of you say he is then the same voters that put him over the top in the primary should be able to get him elected in the general.

If you have someone more conservative to vote for than the Pubbie that will win then vote for him/her. But you're dead wrong on a few things.

Perhaps he would be helping the sorry arse Dims (on the short term surface) at first look,...

Liberal judges could last for decades.

... but he would be also returning the future voter power shift back to a more conservative area in future elections.

A liberal Congress would oppose any voter reform that undercut their cheating. They would support anything that let illegals vote. They would support whatever let more foreigners in that would vote Dem. They would redraw districts in their own favor. They would make any law they could to hold power.

(Don't think so? Have you seen a lot of integrity and respect for the rule of law and the Constitution amongst Dems lately?)

Republicans are not stupid creatures, they know the electorate center to stand, and without extremes to the right being worth courting, there is no reason to stay conservative.

If the electorate swings to the left you think the Pubbies will move to the right? And you would consider them smart if they did? Do you also think they're not politicians?

Go ahead and vote third party to make a "statement." In ten or twenty years, when the Dems have run the country into the ground, I'm sure everyone will remember your "statement" -- Just like everyone remembers the "statement" made by Greens, which cost Gore the Presidency.

I'm just trying to get you to think about what you are doing. You'll never get an ideal candidate, and maybe you'll never even get anything close. All you can rationally do is choose the lesser of two evils. Now, if the Republicans were "almost as bad" as the Dems, then I'd say go ahead and vote third party. But if you think that is the case, then I think you badly need to educate yourself on the Democrat Party, which is being taken over by radical Leftists. Are you going to stand on the sidelines and let them take over?

Did you write this trash?

If not, what is your own opinion of this nonsense?

This stupid rant is 100% against everything that FR stands for and its stated goals.

Like it or not, American is a two party system. If you vote for some weirdo fringe party candidate or don't vote at all, you are helping the other side. And voting fringe has NEVER once "taught" the GOP a lesson or anything else political naifs want to say about it.
