Rove Engineered 2001 Bush Photo Opportunity with NYC Fireman
Peace and Freedom ^ | September 11, 2006 | John E. Carey

Much of the business of Presidents of the United States these days involves special, symbolic support and caring for causes, the injured, and the grieving.

On September 11, 2006, the fifth anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, President Bush traveled from “Ground Zero” in New York City, to an empty field near Shanksville, Pa., and onward to the pentagon. At each site of loss and suffering, the president served largely a symbolic yet very meaningful role.

Three days after the terror and destruction of 9/11, on September 14, 2001, the President of the United States traveled to New York City to express solidarity for the grieving and to thank and encourage the first responders and all the others who provided comfort and assistance on that fateful day.

One of the lasting images from that important visit, a presidential appearance that inspired, calmed and encouraged many Americans, is the picture of President Bush standing atop a crushed fire truck, with his arm around retired FDNY firefighter Bob Beckwith.

In an impromptu moment of unusually uplifting and inspired rhetoric from this president, Mr. Bush grabbed a bull horn and said, “I hear you. The world hears you. And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!”

Karl Rove made that moment happen.

I wouldn't say that Rove engineered it. According to Bob Beckwith, Rove asked him to help the president then get down. Beckwith helped the president up and was getting down when the president asked him to stay.

Well, that version sounds natural and right, but isn't quite as good for dissing the president and demonizing Carl Rove.

In an impromptu moment of unusually uplifting and inspired rhetoric from this president,

Karl Rove made that moment happen.

You clearly do not listen to PRESIDENT Bush often. He always uplifting and inspired and it ticks the commies off no end.

Karl had nothing to do with the "moment" if you read Mr. Beckwith's account.

Karl Rove made that moment happen.

Only partly.
Bob Beckwith said that Rove (who Beckwith didn't recognize) asked
him if it was safe to stand on the vehicle.
Beckwith said "yes", then Rove told him to help Dubya up and then
he (Beckwith) was to get down.

Beckwith said that he was ready to get off the vehicle when Dubya asked him
where he was going...and then Dubya told him to stay and thus
the bullhorn/old firefighter scene ensued.

That's my best recollection of what Beckwith said in one of the
plethora of 9-11 documentaries within the last couple of days.

Apparently on that occassion, Dubya's PR-sense did Rove's one better.

Rove makes the rain fall which helps the flowers grow and then he stomps on the flowers and shoots lightning bolts out of his eyes to kill children.

I really loved the episode of "American Dad" that had a floating
"Dark Lord" as Rove.
Super-powerful, super-evil...all the things envious losers think of Rove.
