9-11 Republicans

I occasionally wander over to the left side of the blogoshere to have a look-see. Not too many surprises. Hate, rage, disgust, arrogance, and mockery disguised as cynicism and reality-based thinking. It makes you wonder: if President Bush were as evil as they imagine, and were as hell-bent on installing a theocratic dictatorship as they claim, then why haven't they taken up armed revolt against this unjust government?

One reason may be that the members of their group who would have had the courage to take such a stand are no longer voting for Democrats. And, until the Democrats are willing to seriously confront the threat of terrorism, they will not vote for Democrat candidates. I've seen them on blogs like LGF, Kesher Talk, and neo--neocon. People who would ordinarily vote "D", changed by the events of 9-11.

This sigificant change of voting habit shows no sign of weakening. As the mainstream Democrat party attempts to appease their base, the 9-11 Republicans will continue to vote for the Republican candidate, in the '06 mid-terms, and in the '08 elections as well. They understand that we must win this war against the islamic fascists, period. To borrow a phrase from Bill Clinton, "It's national security, stupid."

They make their displeasure known in other ways. Look at their violent, reckless, rude behavior during the Presidential campaign of 2004.

I've read some opinions of the "reality-based" folks. If they truly believe that drivel, that the administration is trying to impose a theocratic empire, that there is no terrorist threat, that 9/11 was an inside job hatched by PNAC in Texas before the election of 2000, then the display at the NY convention is nothing more than a temper tantrum by scared children.

The article is spot on. 9-11 republicans will never return to the democratic party. 9-11 opened our eyes as to who the democrats really are and what they stand for. I, and my family, want no part of them. We all (eventually) changed our voter cards and now are registured republicans. Now, after talking to my sil, and dil, there are 11 of us in my immediate family. My older kids and their spouses and single son. All of us.

Count me in as a 9-11 republican. I also used to be a democrat but two things changed that: Joining the military (I saw first hand how a democrat takes care of their men and women in uniform), and 9-11. I'll never go back to being a democrat with their flip-flopping, their double talk and their sheer hypocrisy. I guess my Dad was right all along :)
