DUmmie FUnnies 08-08-06 (William Rivers Pitt Staggers Into Lieberman-Lamont Contest)
DUmmie FUnnies ^ | August 8, 2006 | William Rivers Pitt, DUmmies, and PJ-Comix

Posted on 08/08/2006 6:23:07 AM PDT by PJ-Comix

The contest between Joe Lieberman and Ned Lamont is exactly the kind of election that William Rivers (Pied Piper) Pitt would love to get involved in. First of all, Connecticut is only a short drive from Bukowski's in Boston and also because Lamont is the type of candidate that the "progressives" love. In fact, all sorts of "progressives" are already deeply involved in the Lamont campaign with the notable exception of Pied Piper Pitt. Why? Simple. Because Pitt has made himself persona non grata among the Democrats due to his Hoaxmas fiasco last May when he made fools of himself and them by making the Democrats think that Karl Rove was indicted on May 12. On top of that, Pitt is known as a backstabber because of his betrayal of the Dennis Kucinich campaign when, acting as the press secretary for the Evil Elf, he secretly fed campaign info to the Kerry people. Thus we have the spectacle of Pitt looking at the Lieberman-Lamont contest from the outside like a kid looking anxiously through the candy store window with no change in his pockets. All Pitt can now do is post this DUmmie THREAD titled, "Lieberman v. Lamont tomorrow: Place yer bets, place yer bets!" Well, I place my bet on the fact that Pied Piper Pitt will NEVER become involved with a major campaign ever again. So let us now watch Pied Piper Pitt watch the Connecticut campaign via only his monitor in Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, wondering if Pitt will celebrate a Lamont victory with yet another drunken round of Bukowski's binge drinking, is in the [brackets]:

Lieberman v. Lamont tomorrow: Place yer bets, place yer bets!

[I'm betting that Karl Rove will be indicted on May 12.]

With polls showing Lamont leading the three-term incumbent, Lieberman at last moved to confront the issues -- opposition to the war and anger with Bush -- that have put his political career in jeopardy. The decision came after a lengthy debate within his campaign over whether he could win the primary without directly addressing his position on the war and his relationship with the president.

Lieberman has gained ground on his challenger in the past four days, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released early Monday morning. The poll showed Lamont at 51 percent to Lieberman's 45 percent. Last Thursday, the same poll put the race at Lamont 54 percent, Lieberman 41 percent.

Lieberman has hammered Lamont in radio ads aimed at African American voters, stressing his own civil rights record while criticizing Lamont for his recent membership in a country club that the ads say is not know for its diversity. Lieberman advisers hope the late TV and radio blitz and the Sunday speech on Iraq will force Connecticut Democrats to think again before voting against the incumbent on Tuesday.

[And Pied Piper Pitt will get hammered tonight listening to the election results at Bukowski's.]

Lamont in a walk. I hope. IF it's a walk, look for Joe to bow out and NOT run as an independent. reason? his wife is a lobbyist and THAT would be bad for 'buisness'

[And if Lieberman loses his Senate seat there is NO REASON to keep his wife employed as a lobbyist, DUhhhhmmmmie.]

You and William are such gifts for friends...my guys from home!

[Is that you, Jason Leopold?]

The freepers show up and pull out a Lieberman squeaker.

[The freepers show up outside Bukowski's and pull Pitt out of the gutter.]

Does Connecticut use electronic voting machines? I expect that Diebold, Sequoia and ES&S would be only too happy to make sure that Lieberman remains in office.

[Unfortunately, Karl Rove set the Diebold machines at "L," forgetting that Lamont's name also starts with that letter.]

After a closed door dressing down by party leaders, Joe declines to run as an Independent and offers Lamont his support.

[That sounds like a drunken dream of Pitt's.]

Holy Joe will seize any opportunity to run as an independent and muddy the waters, just to feed his own ego (and attempt to preserve the flow of lobbyist money), unless the Democratic establishment lets him know in no uncertain terms that it's insupportable.

[It's gonna be FUn to see how pissed off the DUmmies are when Joe begins his independent run the day after the election. Meaning TOMORROW.[

You'll see desperate if Joe loses, and decides to run as an Independent in the general. He will split the Dem vote and give the seat to the GOP by doing so. That is desperate. Watch. If he loses, he just might do it.

[As usual, Pitt, your political analysis is completely WRONG. The GOP candidate doesn't have a chance, no matter what. The most likely scenario is that Lieberman picks up a big chunk of the Republican voters that will give him victory in the November election. Now lift that gin bottle to your lips before you start spouting incoherent nonsense again.]

bet you a case of beer he doesn't run as an independent his wife is a lobbyist. that isn't good for 'business' they will push him out. bet ya.

[A case of beer? Now you definitely have Pied Piper Pitt's interested in that wager.]

I'm not taking the bet, because that's what I'm also thinking. The problem is, simply, that Joe has proven himself to be an unutterly deplorable, sublimely craven douchebag, so there's that margin which can't be accounted for by logic or best interests. There is also this aspect: if he loses and decides not to run Indy, and thus is out of the Senate, his wife's lobbying muscle will diminish. It might be worth it to both of them to try a kamikaze run.

[Thanx for the morality lecture, Pitt. Yeah, Joe has proven himself to be an unutterly deplorable sublimely craven douchebag because he told everybody that Karl Rove would be indicted on May 12. When that didn't happen he never apologized for deceiving everybody and now REFUSES to talk about it. Oops! That wasn't Joe, was it?]

Maybe I'm just too cynical... I hope for a Lamont win... but I'm just so used to losing.

[That pretty much goes for all DUmmies. Lamont might win today but could lose in November to...Joe. Freudenschade, baby!]

Today's the day

[You're right, Pitt. Today's the day when Bukowski's has an extended Happy Hour.]

I would LOVE to read some of the praise of Lieberman on that site around the 2000 election--you know, the ol' "Hutzpah!" Gore had for picking him, how he's shoring up the "conservative Democrat" vote, decent guy, etc. etc.

Now it's not that he supports the war for reasons the DUmmies might not agree with--now he's EVIL.

When exactly did the change happen?

Also, what does it say about the DUmmies that not only did they get their asses kicked by the "moron" Bush in TWO Presidential elections, not only did Bush lead the Republicans to a historic mid-term victory, but that fully 3/4 of both 2000 tickets were actually Evil Ones? How were they so duped, time and again?

And maybe they should wonder what it is about themselves that allows them to be so easily fooled.

PJ, I'm hoping that tonight the DUmmies have a DUFUable thread of "scoreboard watching" the Connecticut race, that they get their hopes up every time there's an uptick for Lamont, and that in the end their hopes are crushed ONCE AGAIN when Lieberman wins Diebold/Rove pull out a "victory" for Lieberman.

You might have to wait until November for that Freudenschade moment. However, it will be FUn to watch the DUmmies tomorrow if Joe files to run as an independent.

And isn't Cindy McKommie a possible loser today also?

Not quite right. Cynthia "Da JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOZ" McKinney is an absolute, guaranteed loser vs. Johnson. :)

The decision came after a lengthy debate within his campaign over whether he could win the primary without directly addressing his position on the war and his relationship with the president.

The posting came after lengthy alcohol-fueled musings within Pitt's head over whether he could slink back into DUmmieland without directly addressing his responsibility for Hoaxmas and his relationship with Jason Leopold.

Are you really back, or are you just dropping in to visit?

The DUmmies already have some threads that show promise. Here's one that was started by DUmmie matcom:

"Connecticut DUers! PLEASE Keep Us Informed During Today!"

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1845400

And yes, Cynthia McKinney has a run-off with Hank Johnson today to see who will be the Democratic candidate for the GA 4th District seat in Congress:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x2442154

I watched both televised "debates" between these two during the past week. She constantly harped about Johnson "getting his support from Republicans", while he homed in on her "ineffectiveness" in Congress and the incident with the Capitol Hill Police. My assessment was that debating either of them would be like shooting fish in a barrel, but at least he's sane.

The latest poll numbers show Johnson at 53%, McKinney at 40%, and 7% still undecided.

Considering this, I got a real chuckle when one of our local news anchors stated that this was a "close race, indeed". These poll numbers show a difference that is well outside the margin of error!

Just a drive-by posting. Notice I didn't DUFU the stuff in Bolshevik Red.

After this quick visit, I need to spend the rest of the day working on the paper I'm giving in Sweden next week.

What an idiot. 1) Lieberman won't run as an independent, its a bluff 2) if he did, there's still no chance of a Republican gaining the seat - not enough votes for him even if the Dem vote is split. How can Pitt be so ignorant of the political battlefield yet claim any expertise in politics?

You know, P-J, this has got to be a melancholy moment for three DUmmies.

Fat Che, who got mausoleumed.

Fido the Village Idiot, who "voluntarily quit" DUmmieland.

And the Bostonian Drunkard, on the outside looking in.

Wednesday will be the worst day of press for the progressive Democrats in years. If Lamont loses, the WSJ and other lackeys of the Republican Party will brand the Dems as ineffectual, irrelevant, extremist, and destructive. If Ned Lamont wins, the Republican media lapdogs will brand Dems as powerful, relevant, extremist, and destructive.

Lamont never was a member of the country club that Lieberman's campaign said he belongs to. Most Democrats don't spread malicious lies, which explains Lieberman's expected political demise today. Your hypothetical is inapplicable to any real world situation.

Except for the hypothetical where a Republican belongs to a CC lacking in diversity. Don't be stupid.
